Abstract

PURPOSE: A brake device of a pneumatic cylinder is provided to prevent an accident and to improve welding efficiency by installing the brake device in the pneumatic cylinder in such a manner that the pneumatic cylinder is stopped at an intermediate stroke position. CONSTITUTION: An air inlet hole(7) is formed in a cylinder tube(6), a cylinder head cover(2) and a cylinder end cover(3). A spring(8) is provided to elastically support a piston(4) of a pneumatic cylinder. A push button(10) and a ball(9) are provided to discharge pneumatic pressure introduced from a solenoid valve(1) and to discharge pneumatic pressure between a brake piston(5) and the cylinder end cover(3). Air is supplied into a gap formed between the brake piston(5) and the cylinder end cover(3) along the air inlet hole(7), thereby pushing up the brake piston(5). Thus, the brake piston(5) makes contact with a locking protrusion(13) formed in the cylinder tube(6). Since a cylinder is fixed to a piston rod(11) due to elastic force of the spring(8), the piston(4) makes contact with the brake piston(5) so that the piston(4) is prevented from moving backward.
