Abstract

PURPOSE: A method for processing wide area calls is provided to allow extension numbers having different digits according to groups in a local switching system and to allow numbers same with other groups in the groups, so as to process the wide area calls by CENTREX(Centralized PBX Service) extension numbers. CONSTITUTION: A switching system allows required extension numbers according to CENTREX(Centralized PBX Service) subscriber groups. A CENTREX subscriber listens to an extension dial tone in an off-hook state to originate a call. If a first digit signal is received, the subscriber checks whether the first digit signal is an extension call or an external call. If the first digital signal is the extension call, the switching system receives an extension. The switching system checks whether the received extension is a wide area call. If so, the switching system retrieves wide area CENTREX data to process the wide area call. If the received extension is not the wide area call, the switching system performs an extension call process.
