Description

Backlight unit and display device including the same}BACKLIGHT UNIT AND DISPLAY APPARATUS CONTAINING THE SAME

Embodiments relate to a backlight unit and a display device including the same.

LCDs, which are large-sized display devices, require a separate backlight unit due to the absence of their own light emitting devices, and light emitting diodes (LEDs) can be used as light sources.

BACKGROUND ART Light emitting devices such as a light emitting diode (LED) or a laser diode (LD) using a semiconductor material of Group 3-5 or 2-6 group semiconductors have been developed with thin film growth technology and device materials, Green, blue, and ultraviolet rays. By using fluorescent materials or combining colors, it is possible to realize white light rays with high efficiency. Also, compared to conventional light sources such as fluorescent lamps and incandescent lamps, low power consumption, It has the advantages of response speed, safety, and environmental friendliness.

The light emitting diode is used in place of the cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) constituting the backlight of an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) display device. In addition to the transmission module of the optical communication means, the white light emitting diode Light emitting diode lighting devices, automotive headlights, and traffic lights.

The backlight unit used in the LCD is divided into an edge type backlight unit and a direct-type backlight unit according to the position of the light source. In the edge type, a light source is disposed on the right and left sides or upper and lower sides of the LCD panel, Since the light is uniformly distributed over the surface, uniformity of light is good and the thickness of the panel can be made very thin.

The direct-type method is generally used for a display of 20 inches or more, and since the light source is arranged at a lower portion of the panel, the light efficiency is higher than that of the edge method. Thus, it is mainly used for a large display requiring high brightness.

기존 엣지 방식이나 직하 방식의 백라이트 유닛의 광원으로는 CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp)를 이용하였다.CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) is used as a light source of the backlight unit of the conventional edge method or direct-down type.

However, since the backlight unit using CCFL is always supplied with power to the CCFL, a considerable amount of power is consumed, and a color reproduction ratio of about 70% as compared with CRT and environmental pollution problems caused by the addition of mercury are pointed out as disadvantages.

BACKGROUND ART [0002] As a substitute product for solving the above problem, researches on a backlight unit using an LED (Light Emitting Diode) have been actively conducted.

When the LED is used as a backlight unit, it is possible to partially turn on / off the LED array, thereby drastically reducing the power consumption. In the case of the RGB LED, the color reproduction range specification exceeding 100% of the National Television System Committee (NTSC) So that a more vivid image quality can be provided to the consumer.

In addition, the LED manufactured by the semiconductor process is characterized by being harmless to the environment.

Currently, LCD products employing LEDs having the above advantages are being marketed extensively. However, since the conventional CCFL light source is different from the driving mechanism, driving drivers and PCB substrates are expensive.

Therefore, the LED backlight unit is only applied to expensive LCD products.

An embodiment of the present invention is to provide a backlight unit in which a light guide plate is omitted, the weight is light, the manufacturing cost is low, and the durability is high with external impact or pressure.

FIGS. 1A to 1D are views for explaining a two-edge type backlight unit according to an embodiment, and FIGS. 2A and 2B are diagrams showing a difference in radius of curvature between a first inclined surface and a second inclined surface of a reflective plate.

1A to 1D, the backlight unit includes a light source module 100 including at least one light source, a reflector 200, a reflection plate 300, and a support plate 900 .

Here, the light source module 100 is disposed between the reflector 200 and the reflection plate 300, and may be disposed adjacent to the reflector 200 or the reflection plate 300.

The light source module 100 may be spaced apart from the reflective plate 300 at the same time as it contacts the reflector 200 or may be spaced apart from the reflector 200 at the same time as it contacts the reflective plate 300 . Alternatively, the light source module 100 may be spaced apart from the reflector 200 and the reflective plate 300, or may be simultaneously contacted with the reflector 200 and the reflective plate 300.

The light source module 100 may include a circuit board having an electrode pattern and a light emitting device for generating light.

At this time, at least one light emitting element may be mounted on the circuit board, and an electrode pattern for connecting the adapter supplying power and the light emitting element may be formed.

For example, a carbon nanotube electrode pattern for connecting the light emitting device and the adapter may be formed on the upper surface of the circuit board.

Such a circuit board may be a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) substrate made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET), glass, polycarbonate (PC), silicon (Si) or the like and mounted with a plurality of light sources 100, .

In addition, the substrate may be a single layer PCB, a multilayer PCB, a ceramic substrate, a metal core PCB, or the like.

The light emitting diode may be a blue LED chip or an ultraviolet LED chip or a red LED chip, a green LED chip, a blue LED chip, a yellow green LED, Chip, white LED chip, or the like.

The white LED may be realized by combining a yellow phosphor on a blue LED or by simultaneously using a red phosphor and a green phosphor on a blue LED, (Yellow phosphor), Red phosphor (Phosphor) and Green phosphor (Phosphor).

Next, the reflector 200 and the reflection plate 300 may face each other at regular intervals so as to have an air guide in the empty space between the reflector 200 and the reflection plate 300.

Here, the reflector 200 has an open area and may be disposed on one side of the light source module 100 or spaced apart from the light source module 100 at regular intervals.

That is, the reflector 200 may include a first light source module and a second light source module, which are disposed such that the central region thereof is opened and the light source module 100 faces the opposite side edge regions of the reflector 200.

The reflector 200 may be formed of one of a reflective coating film and a reflective coating material layer to reflect the light generated from the light source module 100 toward the reflective plate 300.

In addition, a sawtooth-shaped reflection pattern may be formed on the surface of the reflector 200 facing the light emitting module 100, and the surface of the reflection pattern may be flat or curved.

The reason for forming the reflection pattern on the surface of the reflector 200 is to increase the brightness in the central region of the backlight unit by reflecting the light generated in the light source module to the central region of the reflection plate 300.

Next, the reflection plate 300 may be disposed at a predetermined distance from the light source module 100, and may have an inclined surface inclined at an angle from a horizontal plane parallel to the surface of the reflector 200.

The inclined surface of the reflection plate 300 may reflect the light generated from the light source module 100 or the light reflected from the reflector 200 to the open area of the reflector 200.

Further, the reflection plate 300 may include at least two inclined surfaces having at least one inflection point.

The reflection plate 300 may be formed by injecting a thermosetting resin or a thermoplastic resin. A material having a high reflectivity may be coated on the surface of the reflection plate 300 facing the optical member 400.

Since the reflection plate 300 is made of plastic or the like, it may be weak against the pressure of the display panel 800 such as a liquid crystal display panel described later or an external impact. A support plate 900 is disposed in a part of the rear surface of the reflection plate 300 to protect the reflection plate 300 from external pressure or impact. The support plate 900 may be made of a material harder than the reflection plate 300, and aluminum may be used.

The support plate 900 may extend from the side surface of each light source module 100 and extend at least to a position corresponding to the inflection point P of the inclined surface of the reflection plate 300. The inflection point P of the inclined plane is the lowest position in the reflective plate 300 and when the supporting plate 900 is disposed corresponding to the inflection point P, it can stably support the bottom point of the reflective plate 300 have.

The support plate 900 may be arranged symmetrically with respect to an imaginary line at the center of the reflection plate 300 because the support plate 900 is extended from each of the pair of light source modules 100 facing each other. The specific arrangement of the support plate 900 will be described later in Figs. 6A to 6D.

FIGS. 2A and 2B are diagrams showing the difference in radius of curvature of the inclined surface of the reflection plate. FIG.

The inflection point P between the first and second inclined surfaces 301 and 303 may be located in the region of the reflection plate 300 adjacent to the light source, but may be located in an area far from the light source.

If the curvature radius R1 of the first inclined plane 301 adjacent to the light source is smaller than the curvature radius R2 of the second inclined plane 303, the inflection point P will be located in the area of the reflection plate 300 adjacent to the light source, If the curvature radius R1 of the adjacent first inclined surface 301 is larger than the curvature radius R2 of the second inclined surface 303, the inflection point P will be located in the region of the reflection plate 300 remote from the light source.

In addition, the bottom cover may be formed with support pins 360 for supporting the optical member on the upper surface of the reflection plate 300. [ This is because the optical member is spaced from the reflecting plate 300 and an air guide is formed therebetween, so that the central region of the optical member can be lowered.

It may be stable that the area of the lower surface of the support pin 360 contacting the reflection plate 300 is larger than the area of the upper surface.

8 is a view showing a circuit device disposed under the bottom cover.

As shown in FIG. 8, circuit devices 370 for driving the light source module may be disposed below the slopes of the reflection plate 300. That is, since a predetermined space is formed between the inclined surfaces on the rear surface of the reflection plate 300, if the circuit devices are arranged in the space, the empty space can be efficiently used.

The backlight unit described so far can be an embodiment, and can be modified into various shapes.

The first, reflective plate 200, 300 may be partially planar or inclined, and the inclined plane may be planar or curved.

The inclined surface having a curved surface may be a concave inclined surface or a convex inclined surface.

Therefore, the reflection plate 300 is not parallel to the reflector 200, and may be at least one of a plane, a flat slope, a concave slope, and a convex slope.

The reflective plate 300 may have a structure in which a reflective film is attached to a mold body having an inclined surface or a structure in which a reflective film having an inclined surface is attached to a mold body having a plane, It may be the mold body itself having a slope.

Here, the reflective film may include at least one of a metal or a metal oxide, and may be a metal having a high reflectance such as aluminum (Al), silver (Ag), gold (Ag), or titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) Or a metal oxide.

The reflection pattern of the reflector 200 and the reflection plate 300 may be different from each other.

That is, the reflector 200 may have a regular reflection surface that regularly reflects light, and the reflection plate 300 may have a diffusely reflective surface that diffusely reflects light.

Alternatively, the reflector 200 may have a diffusing surface to diffuse the light irregularly, and the reflecting plate 300 may have a regular reflecting surface regularly reflecting the light.

In some cases, the reflection plate 300 may be provided with a regular reflection surface in an area adjacent to the light source module 100, and a diffusive reflection surface in a region distant from the light source module 100.

Here, in the indirect emission type light source module 100, the emitted light is reflected by the reflector 200, the reflection plate 300, and the cover plate 500, and the reflected light can again travel in the air guide direction of the backlight unit .

The reason why the light source module 100 is disposed in the indirect output structure is that hot spot phenomenon can be reduced.

9 is a view showing a display module having a backlight unit according to an embodiment.
