Description

핵의학 방출 영상 시스템 및 단일 투과 영상을 이용한 감쇠보정 방법{Nuclear medicine emission imaging system and method for attenuation correction of nuclear medicine using single transmission scan data}Nuclear medicine emission imaging system and method for attenuation correction of nuclear medicine using single transmission scan data}

The present invention relates to a nuclear medical emission imaging system, and more particularly, to a nuclear medical emission imaging system for correcting attenuation of a multi-session nuclear medical emission image and a method of attenuation correction using a single transmission image.

Positron Emission Tomograhpy (PET) and Single Phothon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT) provide radiation to certain organs inside the body after administration of radiopharmaceuticals, including radioisotopes, to the human body. By imaging the counted and counted radiation data, it is an imaging method that allows the medical professional to determine the distribution of radiation for the organ and to evaluate biochemical changes or functional problems.

Hereinafter, PET images or SPECT images are collectively referred to as emission images.

These PET and SPECT are most suitable for non-invasive evaluation of the function of the living body and are very useful, but relatively lack of anatomical information and low resolution due to biochemical and physical principles. In addition, in the method of obtaining images using nuclear medicine principles, gamma rays emitted from the body react with tissues in the body, resulting in absorption and scattering of gamma rays. There is a problem.

For example, if radiation detection is actually performed with a PET system or a SPECT system to obtain emission images for the head without attenuation (absorption and scattering, etc.) as shown in FIG. 1C, the emission images as shown in FIG. Is obtained.

Unlike the emission image shown in (c) of FIG. 1, the acquired emission image actually shows a form in which the coefficient of radiation detected as a whole is attenuated, especially in the center of the head. This attenuation is caused by loss of gamma rays due to absorption, scattering, etc. in tissues in the body, and thus varies depending on the location of the gamma source or tissues in the body.

In order to solve the attenuation of the emission image, a transmission image (eg, a transmission image using an external gamma ray source or an X-ray CT transmission image) as shown in FIG. In addition, a technique of generating an emission image with attenuation corrected as shown in FIG. 1 (c) by applying an attenuation coefficient to an emission image has been proposed and used.

Accordingly, the existing single PET system uses a bar source that rotates around the human body to obtain a transmission image and use it to attenuate the emission image. In recent years, nuclear imaging devices such as SPECT / CT, PET / CT, etc. are mainly combined with CT imaging devices, which are obtained from CT images because they can obtain emission images and CT images (ie CT transmission images). This is because the anatomical information can be used to immediately correct the attenuation of the emitted image.

However, in order to evaluate and study the pharmacokinetics, distribution, and dynamics of new drugs or radiopharmaceuticals, nuclear medicine emission images must be obtained for a long time. Therefore, the emission images are taken in multiple sessions. In the case of radiopharmaceuticals containing radioactive isotopes with long half-lives, images should be taken for up to 6-7 days for diagnosis or research. Otherwise, more than 3-4 hours are required.

Due to the long time taken to take a rest in the middle of the shooting, the patient (or subject) must be placed on the patient bed more than once, each time the position of the patient will be different. That is, the case where the position of the patient varies by session.

Accordingly, in order to cope with the change in the position of the patient, conventionally, each time the patient comes to the bed, in addition to the nuclear medical emission image scanning process, a transmission image using a bar source or X-rays is obtained every time, resulting in radiation exposure of the patient. The problem is that the dose is greatly increased.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made in an effort to provide a nuclear medical emission imaging system and a single attenuation correction method for reducing radiation exposure of a patient in multi-session nuclear medicine imaging.

Referring now to the drawings, the nuclear medical emission imaging system and the attenuation correction method using a single transmission image will be described in detail.

First, a nuclear medical emission imaging system according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. 2.

2 is a block diagram of a nuclear medical imaging system according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 2, the nuclear medical emission imaging system 100 according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention may include a CT imaging unit 110, a radiation detector 120, a transmission image generator 130, and an emission image generator ( 140, a storage unit 150, a position error calculating unit 160, a CT image rearranging unit 170, and an attenuation correction unit 180.

Here, the nuclear medical emission imaging system 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention is a system capable of capturing transmission images such as PET emission images and CT images, or a system capable of capturing transmission images such as SPECT emission images and CT images. to be.

The CT imaging unit 110 irradiates X-rays to the patient, detects X-rays passing through the patient, and outputs an X-ray detection signal. The transmission image generator 130 receives the X-ray detection signal of the CT imaging unit 110 and processes the image to generate a CT image.

The radiation detector 120 detects (ie, measures) gamma rays emitted and received from the patient and outputs a gamma ray imaging signal. The emission image generation unit 140 processes the gamma ray imaging signal output by the radiation detection unit 120 to generate an emission image indicating the distribution of gamma rays.

In detail, the radiation detector 120 measures the gamma rays emitted from the tissue in the body of the patient and outputs a gamma ray imaging signal. At this time, the gamma ray emitted from the patient has an energy of about 511 keV.

The storage unit 150 stores the CT image generated by the transmission image generator 130 and stores the emission image generated by the emission image generator 140.

In this case, according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, imaging is performed every session for diagnosis or research of one patient, and the CT imaging unit 110 drives one CT image by driving only one session among the plurality of sessions. Will be generated. Of course, the CT imaging unit 110 may be driven in the first session, but may be made in one of the second and subsequent sessions.

Therefore, according to an embodiment of the present invention, the user takes a multi-session image of the patient, and captures the emission image for each session by using the radiation detector 120 in each session, and stores it in the storage unit 150. One CT image is captured by the CT imaging unit 110 in one of the multi-sessions and stored in the storage unit 150.

Hereinafter, one CT image is referred to as an "original CT image", and an emission image photographed in a session in which the original CT image is photographed is referred to as an "original emission image".

The position error calculator 160 determines a spatial position difference (that is, a position error) between the original emission image and the emission image of the target session to be compared, and reorders the corresponding position error (ie, the transformation matrix ( transformation matrix). Here, since the reordering value that matches the two images in the 3D space, that is, the transformation matrix, follows a conventional 3D transformation matrix calculation method, detailed description thereof will be omitted.

When the CT image rearranging unit 170 receives the rearrangement value generated by the position error calculating unit 160, the CT image rearranging unit 170 reads the original CT image from the storage unit 150. The CT image rearranging unit 170 separates the body part and the background part from the original CT image read, and then rearranges the CT image of the body part using the rearrangement value. This rearranged original CT image is spatially matched with the target emission image.

In addition, the CT image rearranging unit 170 combines the rearranged CT images of the body parts with the CT images of the background part and finally generates the rearranged CT images, and matches the rearranged CT images thus generated with the emission images of the corresponding session. Save to 150.

The position error calculator 160 and the CT image rearranging unit 170 operate as many sessions as the remaining sessions except for the session in which the original CT image is photographed, and generate and store the rearranged CT images for each session.

The attenuation correction unit 180 performs attenuation correction on the emission image of the session using the CT image of each session. The attenuation correction operation of the attenuation correction unit 180 follows a normal attenuation correction operation using a CT image.

Hereinafter, attenuation correction methods for nuclear medicine emission images using a single transmission image according to the first embodiment of the present invention will be described with reference to FIGS. 3 and 4.

3 is a flow chart of a method for attenuation correction of a nuclear medical emission image using a single transmission image according to a first embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 4 is attenuation of a nuclear medical emission image using a single transmission image according to an embodiment of the present invention. A diagram for describing a correction method based on an image.

In the following description, a CT image and an emission image are captured in the first session, and only the emission image is captured in the remaining sessions. Of course, CT images can be taken in one of the other sessions in addition to the first session.

(S302).When the patient is lying on the patient bed (not shown) of the nuclear medical emission imaging system, the radiation detector 120 by the user performs a PET or SPECT imaging according to the first session (S301), accordingly the emission image generation unit ( 140 generates an emission image (ie, an original emission image) P1 of the first session and stores it in the storage unit 150 (S302).

(S302).In addition, the CT photographing unit 110 performs CT imaging (transmission image photographing) according to the first session by the user (S304), and accordingly, the transmission image generating unit 130 generates the original CT image CT1 by The storage unit 150 stores it (S302).

(S302).When CT imaging and emission image capturing of the first session are completed, the radiation detection unit 120 repeats the process S301 from the second session to the Nth session by the user, and correspondingly, the emission image generation unit 140 performs each session. The emission image is generated and stored in the storage unit 150 (S302).

For example, if the patient's head is photographed through the CT imaging unit 110 and the radiation detection unit 120, the storage unit 150 has an original CT of the head according to the first session as shown in FIG. 4. The image CT1 and the emission image of the head and the emission image of the head according to the second to Nth sessions are stored.

The emission image is stored in the form of a sinogram. A sinogram is a collection of data that measures and measures gamma rays from multiple angles. The sinogram is formed in such a way that the data measured at one angle is displayed as one line and the data measured at the next angle is displayed just below the displayed line. Therefore, when each line of the sinogram is reconstructed in space, emission images of the head such as P1 and P2 are formed.

When the shooting for each session is completed, the attenuation correction is performed on the emission image from the first session, but the order of the attenuation correction can be arbitrarily adjusted.

(S305).Since the first session has a sinogram for the original CT image (CT1) and the original emission image (P1), the attenuation correction 180 is provided to the original CT image (CT1) and the original emission image (P1), The attenuation correction unit 180 performs attenuation correction on the original emission image P1 using the original CT image CT1 (S305).

(S306).Next, since the second session has only a sinogram and no CT image, as shown in FIG. 4, the second session reconstructs the emission image P2 without attenuation correction using the sinogram of the second session. (S306).

Hereinafter, the emission image without attenuation correction is referred to as a first emission image.

The composition of the emission image using the sinogram is performed by the image processor of the nuclear medical emission imaging system. However, the image processor is not separately illustrated in FIG. 2 and the image processor is included in the position error calculator 160. It demonstrates as.

(S307).When the position error calculator 160 reconstructs the first emission image, the position error calculator 160 may determine a spatial position error between the first emission image and the original emission image, and may match the first emission image and the original emission image based on the spatial position error. The reordering value T is calculated (S307).

When the position error calculator 160 calculates the rearrangement value T of the second session, the position error calculator 160 provides the rearrangement value T of the second session to the CT image rearrangement unit 170.

(S308).The CT image rearranging unit 170 reads the original CT image CT1 from the storage unit 150 when receiving the rearrangement value T of the second session, and displays the original CT image CT1 as shown in FIG. 4. The body part CT1a and the background part CT1b are separated (S308).

(S309).The CT image rearranging unit 170 rearranges the original CT image CT1a of the body part by the rearrangement value T of the second session to generate the original CT image CT1a ′ of the rearranged body part (S309).

(S310).Then, the CT image rearranging unit 170 generates the rearranged original CT image CT2 by combining the original CT image CT1a ′ of the rearranged body part and the original CT image CT1b of the background part, and rearranged the The original CT image CT2 is provided to the attenuation correction unit 180 (S310).

(S311).When the attenuation correction unit 180 receives the rearranged original CT image CT2 corresponding to the second session, the attenuation correction unit 180 attenuates and corrects the first emission image of the second session using the rearranged original CT image CT2 (S311). ).

According to the present invention, since steps S306 to S311 do not have the original CT image CT1 from the second session to the Nth session, they are repeatedly performed until the Nth session (S312).

Hereinafter, attenuation correction methods for nuclear medicine emission images using a single transmission image according to a second embodiment of the present invention will be described. 5 is a flowchart illustrating a method for attenuation correction of nuclear medicine emitted images using a single transmission image according to a second embodiment of the present invention.

The second embodiment of the present invention is generally similar to the first embodiment of the present invention. However, the first embodiment of the present invention is to generate a rearranged original CT image CT2 corresponding to each session for attenuation correction for each session, whereas the second embodiment of the present invention performs a session-by-session photography. After generating and storing the original CT image and the emission image for each of the three, the rearranged original CT image (CT2) for each session is generated and stored in the storage unit 150 regardless of the attenuation correction, and then attenuated for each session. Allow corrections to be made.

(S502).When the patient is lying on the patient bed (not shown) of the nuclear medical emission imaging system, the radiation detector 120 by the user performs a PET or SPECT imaging according to the first session (S501), the emission image generation unit 140 Generates an emission image (ie, the original emission image) P1 of the first session and stores it in the storage unit 150 (S502).

(S502).In addition, the CT photographing unit 110 performs CT imaging (transmission image photographing) according to the first session by the user (S504), and the transmission image generating unit 130 generates the original CT image CT1 and stores the storage unit 150. Stored in step S502).

When the shooting for each session is completed, a CT image corresponding to each session is generated from the second session to the Nth session.

(S505).In detail, the position error calculator 160 reconstructs the first emission image P2 that is not attenuated by using the sinogram of the second session (S505).

(S506),Then, the position error calculator 160 calculates the rearrangement value T between the first emission image and the original emission image and provides the rearrangement value T of the second session to the CT image rearrangement unit 170 (S506). ),

(S507).The CT image rearranging unit 170 reads the original CT image CT1 from the storage unit 150 when receiving the rearrangement value T of the second session, and displays the original CT image CT1 as shown in FIG. 4. The body part CT1a is separated into a background part CT1b (S507).

(S510).The CT image rearranging unit 170 rearranges the original CT image CT1a of the body part by the rearrangement value T of the second session to generate the original CT image CT1a ′ of the rearranged body part (S508). Then, the CT image rearranging unit 170 generates the rearranged original CT image CT2 by combining the original CT image CT1a ′ of the rearranged body part and the original CT image CT1b of the background part (S509). In operation S510, the storage unit 150 stores the data in the storage unit 150.

(S511).According to the present invention, since steps S505 to S510 do not have the original CT image CT1 from the second session to the Nth session, they are repeatedly performed until the Nth session (S511).

(S512).When the storage unit 150 stores the CT image and the emission image of each session as described above, the attenuation correction unit 180 performs attenuation correction on the emission image by using the corresponding CT image for each session (S512).

Meanwhile, in the above-described embodiment, the sinogram is stored as the emission image corresponding to each session in the storage 150, but the reconstructed emission image without attenuation correction using the sinogram is stored in the storage 150. You can do that.
