- 주쇄에 탄소수 4 ∼ 16 의 알킬렌기를 갖고, 또한, 액정의 프리틸트각을 높이는 측쇄를 갖는 폴리머가, 하기 일반식 (5) 로 나타내는 반복 단위를 갖는 폴리아믹산, 또는 이 아믹산을 탈수 폐환시킨 폴리이미드이고,일반식 (5) 로 나타내는 반복 단위에 있어서, 이 반복의 구조의 하나가, 하기 식 (6) 으로 나타내는 구조를 갖고, 또한, 일반식 (5) 로 나타내는 반복 단위에 있어서, 이 반복의 구조의 또 하나가, 하기 식 (7) 로 나타내는 구조를 갖는 액정 배향제.(식 중, A 는 4 가의 유기기, B 는 2 가의 유기기를 나타낸다.)(식 중, Y1 은 4 가의 유기기를 나타내고, k 는 4 내지 16 의 정수를 나타낸다)(식 중, Y2 는 4 가의 유기기를 나타내고, Y3 은 3 가의 유기기를 나타내고, X 는 단결합 또는 2 가의 결합기를 나타내고, R 은 탄소수 4 ∼ 20 의 알킬기, 탄소수 4 ∼ 20 의 플루오로알킬기, 벤젠고리 또는 시클로헥산고리를 1 ∼ 3 개 갖는 기, 및 스테로이드 골격을 갖는 기로 이루어지는 군에서 선택되는 적어도 1 종의 유기기를 나타낸다.)
