The present invention relates to an image processing apparatus such as a digital camera, and more particularly, to an image processing apparatus for performing a function of deleting a photographed and stored file.

Conventional digital cameras use a JPEG file format including a screennail image for high speed image playback.

US Pat. No. 5,933,137, "Method and system for accelerating a user interface of an image capture unit during play mode," discloses a method for quickly displaying an image taken in a play mode of a digital camera on an LCD screen. . The patented digital camera adds a screennail image to the end of the file in JPEG format for storing the captured image. The screen thumbnail image is an image compressed to fit the size of the visible area of the LCD screen separately from the thumbnail image. In playback mode, the screen thumbnail image is restored and displayed on the LCD screen.
