Claims (6)
- 제1 전극을 갖는 제1 기판과, 제2 전극을 갖는 제2 기판이, 배향막 및 액정층을 개재하여 대향 배치되어 이루어지는 액정 표시 장치에 있어서,상기 액정층은, 액정 중에 혼입된 모노머를 중합하여 액정 분자를 소정 방향으로 배향시키기 위한 폴리머 구조물이 형성되어 있고,상기 폴리머 구조물의 표면의 평균 거칠기가 10㎚ 미만으로 되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서,상기 제1 전극에, 배향 패턴의 규제를 행하기 위한 슬릿이 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서,상기 폴리머 구조물은, 상기 액정에 혼입된 모노머가 광 조사 또는 열 처리에 의해 중합되어 형성되어 이루어지는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제1 전극을 갖는 제1 기판과, 제2 전극을 갖는 제2 기판이, 배향막 및 액정층을 개재하여 대향 배치되어 이루어지는 액정 표시 장치의 제조 방법에 있어서,액정 분자를 소정 방향으로 배향시키기 위한 모노머를 혼입한 액정으로 이루어지는 상기 액정층을 상기 제1 기판과 상기 제2 기판 사이에 협지한 상태에서, 상기 기판 사이에 전압을 인가하면서, 상기 모노머를 중합시켜 소정의 배향 패턴의 폴리머 구조물을 형성하고, 액정 분자를 상기 폴리머 구조물에 의해 배향 규제할 때에,상기 폴리머 구조물의 표면의 평균 거칠기를 10㎚ 미만으로 제어하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치의 제조 방법.
- 제4항에 있어서,상기 제1 전극에, 상기 배향 패턴의 규제를 행하기 위한 슬릿이 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치의 제조 방법.
- 제4항 또는 제5항에 있어서,광 조사 또는 열 처리에 의해, 상기 모노머를 중합시켜 상기 폴리머 구조물을 형성하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치의 제조 방법.
