Showing graph.

The present invention relates to a titanium oxide photocatalyst using an oxygen plasma and a rapid heat treatment, and a method of manufacturing the same. More specifically, the photocatalyst has a high purity, nano-sized crystal grains, and the crystal has an athanaze-type structure, and thus the photocatalyst characteristics are improved. It relates to a process for producing a very good photocatalyst and a photocatalyst prepared thereby.

Titanium oxide (TiO 2 , titania) used as a photocatalyst is an n-type semiconductor, and electrons and holes are formed when subjected to ultraviolet rays. The electrons and holes thus formed move to the surface and combine with oxygen (O 2 ) and hydroxyl groups (OH-), respectively, to generate hydroxy radicals and superoxide anions with strong oxidizing power to oxidize and decompose organic matters to decompose water and carbon dioxide. Change to.

Since the titanium oxide photocatalyst can decompose various contaminants, the titanium oxide photocatalyst is an environmentally friendly material, and can be used for decomposition reactions of various organic substances, for example, decomposition or disinfection of harmful substances or odorous substances suspended in water, or suspended in air. Application to environmental purification, protection, etc. can be put to practical use.

In addition, a titanium oxide thin film is formed on the surface of ceramics such as glass, tiles, and inorganic fibers, and has been used for optical applications such as coating of chemical lenses and heat reflecting glass, and inexpensive solar power generation. It is also expected as a solar cell which makes it possible.

In general, when titanium oxide is used as a photocatalyst, it is used in the form of a fine powder, and when used in water treatment or the like, separation and recovery thereof are difficult.

In order to overcome this problem, studies on the method of immobilizing titanium oxide have been actively conducted.

The immobilization method of titanium oxide is powder mixing method metal oxidation method, spin coating method, spray pyrrolysis method, sol-gel method, chemical vapor deposition method.

Among them, the powder mixing method is a method in which the titanium oxide powder is mixed with a binder, applied to a support, and fixed. Titanium oxide fixed in this way decreases the area indicating the activity of the actual catalytic reaction on the titanium oxide surface due to the presence of a binder, thereby degrading the performance of the photocatalytic ability. In addition, there is a problem in that the binder is deteriorated by a strong oxidant generated by the photocatalytic action of titanium oxide, and the catalyst is damaged by desorption of the titanium oxide powder.

Metal oxidation is a method of oxidizing the surface of the deposition object to titanium oxide by heating or anodizing the metal titanium in air, which is problematic in that the price of metal titanium is high and the specific surface area is narrow.

The sol-gel method is the method most widely used at present, and is a method of manufacturing a titanium oxide film by applying a support to a raw material such as an organic titanium compound or a titanium sol and then heat treatment. For example, Korean Patent Publication No. 2000-63580 uses a titanium alkoxide precursor to apply a thin film to various materials such as glass, metal, fiber, paper, etc. by dip-coating or spraying, and then to a temperature of 50 to 700 ° C. Disclosed is a method for producing a photocatalyst comprising heating a titanium oxide photocatalyst thin film by heating at a temperature increase rate of 1 to 20 ° C. in a range. However, this method has a disadvantage that a pure titanium oxide film cannot be obtained because impurities such as an acid or an organic material remain in the material used as the raw material, and the raw material is also expensive and cannot be used when the film is damaged.

In this regard, a method of using titanium oxide to form a thin film rather than a powder has been proposed. The titanium oxide thin film can be formed by chemical vapor deposition, ion plating, sputtering, or the like, but it is difficult to form a thin film on a large area substrate or a homogeneous thin film on the surface of a complicated shape substrate by such a method.

Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a photocatalyst capable of obtaining a pure titanium oxide thin film, and capable of producing anatase type titanium oxide having excellent photocatalytic properties through rapid heat treatment.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a photocatalyst prepared above.

The present invention to achieve the above object

a) 티타늄을 산소 플라즈마로 처리하여 상기 티타늄의 표면을 산화 티타늄으 로 산화시키는 단계; 및a) treating titanium with an oxygen plasma to oxidize the surface of the titanium with titanium oxide; And

It is carried out by feeding at 5 to 15 sccm, preferably using pure oxygen gas. The rapid heat treatment is performed for 1 to 3 minutes at 400 to 500 ℃.

The present invention also provides a photocatalyst prepared by the above method.

Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail.

The photocatalyst prepared by the manufacturing method according to the present invention uses titanium, which is an environmentally friendly material, as a raw material without using a separate medium to produce high purity titanium oxide. The titanium oxide has an anatase type crystal structure, and crystal grains are formed in a nano size to exhibit excellent photocatalytic properties.

1 is a flow chart showing the manufacturing steps of the photocatalyst according to an embodiment of the present invention.

Referring to Figure 1, the photocatalyst according to the present invention

a) 티타늄을 산소 플라즈마로 처리하여 상기 티타늄의 표면을 산화 티타늄으 로 산화시키는 단계; 및a) treating titanium with an oxygen plasma to oxidize the surface of the titanium with titanium oxide; And

b) 급속 열처리를 수행하는 단계를 포함한다.b) performing a rapid heat treatment.

Each step will be described in more detail below.

a) 산소 a) oxygen 플라즈마plasma (( OxygenOxygen PlasmaPlasma ) 처리 단계) Processing steps

In step a), the surface of titanium is oxidized to titanium oxide by oxygen plasma treatment.

The titanium may be used in the form of a bulk or thin film, but is not particularly limited in the present invention, the titanium is preferably used having a high purity of 99.0% to 99.9%.

The bulk titanium is produced in the form of particles, such as spherical or pellets in the manufacturing process, or purchased and used commercially available. In addition, the titanium in the form of a thin film is manufactured by a conventional deposition method, and is typically performed by one method selected from the group consisting of sputtering, ion beam deposition, chemical vapor deposition, and plasma deposition. The thickness of the titanium thin film is not limited in the present invention, and is appropriately adjusted to suit the intended use of the photocatalyst.

This oxygen plasma treatment is performed by generating a plasma using a conventional plasma generator and injecting a gas containing oxygen therein. Preferably, the oxygen plasma treatment is selected from the group consisting of oxygen, dinitrogen oxide (N 2 O), air containing oxygen and mixed gas thereof at a temperature of 350 ℃ or less, preferably 25 to 350 ℃ It is carried out by feeding the species gas at a rate of 5 to 15 sccm, more preferably by purely supplying only oxygen.

In this case, when the injection amount is less than the above range, the generation amount of oxygen plasma is reduced, and a longer working time is required. On the contrary, when the injection amount exceeds the above range, a high pressure is required to generate a high temperature plasma. This dosage can be sufficiently changed or modified depending on the size of the reaction chamber and the capacity of the vacuum pump.

Further, in order to enhance the oxygen plasma treatment effect, it is carried out by mixing nitrogen, argon or a mixture of these with the gas containing oxygen.

At this time, the oxygen plasma treatment is carried out at a pressure of 7.5 × 10 -2 to 8.5 × 10 -2 mbar. If the pressure during the oxygen plasma treatment is less than the above-mentioned range, the problem of plasma generation occurs, on the contrary, if the pressure exceeds the above-mentioned range, high-temperature plasma is generated, which lowers the purity and requires a lot of energy.

In addition, the power applied for generating the oxygen plasma is at least 100 W or more, preferably 150 to 300 W is applied. If the applied power is less than the above range, the amount of plasma generated decreases, and thus the difficulty of oxidation occurs. On the contrary, if the above power is exceeded, the efficiency problem occurs.

As a result, a titanium oxide layer is formed on the surface of titanium due to the oxygen plasma treatment. At this time, the formed titanium oxide has an amorphous structure, and can be formed to a certain depth on the surface and the surface of titanium according to the oxygen plasma treatment process, so that the thickness ratio can be adjusted according to the oxygen plasma process.

In step b), a photocatalyst is prepared by rapidly heat-treating titanium having titanium oxide formed on the surface obtained above.

Titanium oxide has a low photocatalytic property in the amorphous state, so that the crystal structure is converted into an anatase type through a heat treatment process to have a photocatalytic property.

In order to have anatase type of titanium oxide in the related art, heat treatment is performed at 400 to 500 ° C. for 1 to 3 hours. In this case, there is a problem in that the crystal structure is continuously grown and the surface area is reduced. Accordingly, in the present invention, a rapid heat treatment is performed to prevent the crystal form of titanium oxide from growing and to have an anatase type crystal through such rapid heat treatment.

In particular, in the present invention, the heat treatment is performed at 400 to 500 ° C. for 1 to 3 minutes. If the rapid heat treatment is performed below the above temperature, a crystal form of Ti 2 O 3 or Ti 2 O forms. On the contrary, if the temperature is exceeded, the crystal of titanium oxide is in a rutile form. The problem arises that the photocatalyst efficiency is lowered.

Through such rapid heat treatment, a photocatalyst in which titanium oxide is formed on the surface of titanium is manufactured. At this time, titanium oxide is formed on the surface of titanium to a thickness of 15 to 20 ㎛, has a crystal structure of anatase and has a crystal grain size of 10 to 100 nm.

Figure 2a is a cross-sectional view showing the structure of the photocatalyst according to the first embodiment of the present invention, Figure 2b is a schematic diagram showing the manufacturing step thereof.

Referring to FIG. 2B, the photocatalyst oxidizes the surface of the titanium particles 12 using an plasma plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) using an oxygen plasma to oxidize the surface of amorphous titanium oxide. A layer (14) was formed, which was subjected to rapid heat treatment (RTA) to form anatase titanium oxide 16 layer on the surface of the titanium particles 12.

3A is a cross-sectional view showing a structure of a photocatalyst according to a second embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 3B is a schematic diagram showing a manufacturing step thereof.

Referring to FIG. 3A, the photocatalyst according to the second embodiment of the present invention has a multilayer structure in which a titanium oxide 116 thin film is present on the surface of the titanium thin film 112.

Referring to FIG. 3B, the photocatalyst oxidizes the surface of the titanium thin film 112 by oxygen plasma using PECVD to form an amorphous titanium oxide 114 thin film on the surface thereof, and rapidly heat-treats the titanium thin film 112. Anatase titanium oxide thin film 116 is formed on the surface.

The photocatalyst has high purity, has an anatase type crystal structure, and has excellent nanocatalyst characteristics as it has nano-sized crystal grains. Such photocatalysts may be usefully used in various fields such as water treatment apparatuses, metal membranes, photocatalysts for decomposing various organic substances and hydrogen, and electrodes of electrochemical cells for decomposing water to produce hydrogen.

실험예Experimental Example 4 4

In order to determine the catalytic efficiency of the photocatalyst prepared by the present invention, the removal experiment of humic acid (humic acid, 0.01mg / L, Aldrich) was performed.

The experiment was performed using the apparatus shown in FIG. Specifically, four UV lamps were installed in the reactor, and made of quartz to increase UV transmittance. A photocatalyst layer (area: 2 × 2 cm) was formed on one side of the lower end of the central vessel of the reactor as in Example 1, and humic acid was added to the upper portion thereof, and UV was irradiated to measure the amount of humic acid removal every 15 minutes. It was.

The removal efficiency of humic acid over time of commercially available titanium oxide powder (Reference Example 1), thermal sprayed titanium oxide thin film (Reference Example 2), and simple UV irradiation (Reference 3) was measured for comparison. And the obtained result is shown in FIG. For a more clear comparison, the titanium oxide powder of Reference Example 1 used a weight of 2/3 when kept flat at 2 × 2 cm.

Referring to FIG. 8, when comparing the removal rate of the photocatalyst of Example 1 according to the present invention with the general titanium oxide powder photocatalyst of Reference Example 1, it was found that the removal efficiency of Reference Example 1 was high. However, when the photocatalyst is in the form of a fine powder as in Reference Example 1, there is a problem in that separation and recovery of the photocatalyst is difficult when used in water treatment and the like. Furthermore, considering the difference between the surface area of the powder and the thin film, the removal efficiency of the photocatalyst of Example 1 according to the present invention has a significant meaning.

Comparing the removal rate of the photocatalyst of Example 1 according to the present invention with the photocatalyst in which the titanium thin film surface was oxidized by the heat treatment of Reference Example 2, it was found that the removal rate of humic acid of the photocatalyst according to the present invention was higher. Can be. Furthermore, looking at the result after 120 minutes, the photocatalyst of the present invention showed a removal rate of about 70%, and the photocatalyst of Reference Example 2 exhibited a removal rate of about 45%, indicating that the photocatalyst according to the present invention has a higher removal efficiency.

When irradiating only UV as in Reference Example 3, it was almost impossible to remove the humic acid, and shows a large difference compared to the case of irradiating UV with the photocatalyst of Example 1 according to the present invention.

Oxygen plasma and rapid heat treatment according to the present invention enable the production of high purity titanium oxide photocatalysts. The titanium oxide photocatalyst has nano-sized crystal grains, and the crystal has an atanaze-type structure, which is very excellent in photocatalyst properties. It can be usefully used in various fields such as electrodes of electrochemical cells for production.
