Claims (8)
- 소정 거리를 두고 대향 배치된 하부기판과 상부기판;상기 상하부 기판 사이에 협지되며 유전율 이방성이 음인 액정들로 구성된 액정층;상기 상부기판의 내측면 상에 형성되며 각 단위 화소 내부에 규칙적으로 형성된 소정 개의 벨리(Valley)를 구비한 컬러 레진층;상기 벨리를 포함한 컬러 레진층 상에 형성된 상대전극;상기 하부기판의 내측면 상에 형성되며, 평면상에서 보았을 때, 상기 상부기판의 벨리를 중심으로 직교하는 편광축들 및 상기 편광축들에 의하여 분할된 영역마다 형성되며 인접한 벨리들 사이에서 형성되는 디스클리네이션 라인을 완충하기 위한 "+" 형태의 개구인 슬릿 패턴들을 구비한 화소전극;상기 화소전극과 액정층 사이 및 상대전극과 액정층 사이 각각에 개재된 수직 배향막; 및상기 상하부기판의 외측면 각각에 편광축들이 상호 교차하도록 부착된 편광판을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 벨리는 깊이가 2㎛이하이고, 단면은 단변의 길이가 5㎛ 이하인 사각형 모양이며, 벽면의 사이 각도가 10∼90°인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 벨리는 각 단위 화소 내부에 2∼10개가 형성된 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 화소전극의 슬릿 패턴들의 내부에 배치된 불투명 패턴을 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 상하부기판과 편광판 사이에 설치된 위상 보상판을 더 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 수직 배향 모드 액정표시장치.
- 제 5 항에 있어서, 상기 위상 보상판은 일축 또는 이축 위상 보상판이며, 상기 일축 위상 보상판은 위상지연 값이 40∼800㎚ 영역을 포함하고, 상기 이축 위상 보상판은 위상지연 값이 150∼250㎚의 영역을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 수직 배향 모드 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 액정의 유전율 이방성이 -2∼-10인 것을 특징으로 하는 수직 배향 모드 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서, 상기 액정층의 두께는 2∼6㎛이고, 액정층의 두께와 액정의 굴절율 이방성의 곱은 200∼500㎚인 것을 특징으로 하는 수직 배향 모드 액정표시장치.
