Abstract

네트워크 프린터에서 인쇄 오류 방지 장치 및 그 방법이 개시되어 있다. 본 발명은 컴퓨터로부터 인쇄명령을 받아 인쇄물을 출력하는 네트워크 프린터에서 인쇄 오류를 방지하는 방법에 있어서, 상기 수신되는 페이지 데이터를 분석하여 그 데이터량과 기준치를 비교하는 과정, 상기 과정에서 그 페이지 데이터양이 연속적으로 소정 횟수만큼 기준치에 미달하면 인쇄작업을 중단하고 상기 컴퓨터로 인쇄 내용의 확인과 함께 계속 인쇄 실행 여부를 요구하는 과정을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 한다.

Description

네트워크 프린터의 인쇄 오류 방지 장치 및 그 방법{Apparatus for preventing print error and method thereof in network printer}
본 발명은 네트워크 프린터에서 인쇄 오류 방지 장치 및 그 방법에 관한 것으로서, 특히 사용자가 원하지 않는 인쇄물이 지속적으로 출력되지 않도록 한 인쇄 오류 방지 장치 및 그 방법에 관한 것이다.
일반적으로 호스트 컴퓨터와 프린터간의 네트워크로 인쇄 가능하다. 도 1은 일반적인 호스트 컴퓨터와 프린터간의 인쇄 프로세서를 도시한 것이다. 호스트 컴퓨터(122)는 GDI(Graphics Device Interface)부(122), 프린트 드라이버(124), (스플(Spool) 파일부(126), 프린트프로세서(128)로 구성되며, 프린터(130)는 PDL(Page Description Language) 해석부(122), 프린트 엔진부(134)로 구성된다.
우선, 사용자가 호스트 컴퓨터(120)에 인쇄 명령을 내리면 어플리케이션(Application)부(110)은 OS(Operating System)의 GDI를 호출한다. GDI부(122)는 프린터드라이버(124)를 호출하여 어플리케이션부(110)에서 표시되고 있는 각종 도형, 이미지 및 문자들이 어떤 형식으로 프린터에 전송해져야할지를 결정한다. 프린터드라이버(124)는 에플리케이션에 있는 그래픽스 데이터들을 사용하고자하는 프린터가 이해할 수 있는 PDL 데이터로 바꾸어주는 프로그램 모듈로서 일반적으로 프린터 제조업체에서 공급한다. 예를 들어, 포스트스크립트 프린트 드라이버는 어플리케이션에 있는 각종 도형, 이미지 및 문자들을 포스트 스크립트 언어 사양에 맞추어 GDI로 전송하며, PCL 프린터 드라이브는 어플리케이션에 있는 각종 도형, 이미지 및 문자들을 PCL 언어 사양에 맞추어 GDI로 전송한다.
따라서 GDI부(122)는 프린터드라이버(124)로부터 PDL 데이터인 페이지 데이터를 인출하여 스풀파일부(126)에 라이트한다. 프린터프로세서(128)는 스풀파일부(126)에 있는 페이지 데이터를 프린터(130)로 전송한다.
프린터(130)는 호스트 컴퓨터(120)로부터 전송되는 페이지 데이터를 수신하여 해당 PDL 해석부(132)를 구동하여 화상을 생성하고, 이 생성된 화상을 프린터 내부의 인쇄장치인 프린트엔진부(134)로 전송하여 종이에 인쇄된 인쇄물(140)을 출력한다.
그러나 도 1의 장치는 프린터(130)내의 PDL해석부(132)가 호스트 컴퓨터(120)로 부터의 페이지 데이터를 잘못 인식하여 인쇄하는 경우가 있다. 특히 PCL(Print Control Language) 해독기를 가진 프린터로 포스트 스크립트 페이지 데이터를 전송하는 경우에 많이 발생한다. 즉, 프린터(130)로 전송되는 페이지 데이터는 포스트스크립트 언어 사양에 의한 데이터임에도 불구하고 프린터(130)는 이를 PCL 데이터로 인식하여 의미없는 문자열을 여러 페이지에 걸처 출력한다. 따라서 종래에는 이러한 에러가 발생할 경우 불필요한 종이 낭비 및 사용자의 시간 낭비를 초래하며, 이외에도 프린터의 해독기 오류나 데이터의 일부 내용이 전송과정에서 누락되는 경우 사용자가 원하는 않는 결과가 촐력되는 문제점이 있었다.
본 발명이 이루고자하는 기술적과제는 프린터상의 인쇄내용분석기를 사용하여 호스트 컴퓨터에서 프린터로 전송되는 데이터가 어떠한 이유로 인하여 잘못된 데이터가 지속적으로 인쇄되는 것을 방지하는 인쇄 오류 방지 장치 및 그 방법을 제공하는 데있다.
상기의 기술적 과제를 해결하기 위하여, 본 발명은 컴퓨터로부터 인쇄명령을 받아 인쇄물을 출력하는 네트워크 프린터에서 인쇄 오류를 방지하는 방법에 있어서,
상기 수신되는 페이지 데이터를 분석하여 그 데이터량과 기준치를 비교하는 과정;
상기 과정에서 그 페이지 데이터양이 연속적으로 소정 횟수만큼 기준치에 미달하면 인쇄작업을 중단하고 상기 컴퓨터로 인쇄 내용의 확인과 함께 계속 인쇄 실행 여부를 요구하는 과정을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 네트워크 프린터의 인쇄 오류 방지 방법이다.
이하 첨부된 도면을 참조로하여 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예를 설명하기로 한다.
도 2는 본 발명에 따른 인쇄 오류 방지 장치의 전체 구성도이며, 호스트 컴퓨터(220)는 GDI(Graphics Device Interface)부(222), 프린트 드라이버(224), 스플파일부(226), 프린트프로세서(228), 인터페이스모듈부(229)로 구성되며, 프린터(240)는 PDL(Page Description Language) 해석부(242), 인쇄내용분석부(244), 프린트 엔진부(246)로 구성된다.
우선, 사용자가 호스트 컴퓨터(220)에 인쇄 명령을 내리면 어플리케이션부(210)은 OS(Operating System)의 GDI를 호출한다. GDI부(222)는 프린터드라이버(224)를 호출하여 어플리케이션부(20)에서 표시되고 있는 각종 도형, 이미지 및 문자들이 어떤 형식으로 프린터에 전송해져야할지를 결정한다. 프린터드라이버(224)는 에플리케이션부(210)에 있는 그래픽스 데이터들을 사용하고자하는 프린터가 이해할 수 있는 PDL 데이터로 바꾸어주는 프로그램 모듈이다.
따라서 GDI부(222)는 프린터드라이버(224)로부터 PDL 데이터인 페이지 데이터를 인출하여 스풀파일부(226)에 라이트하여 저장한다. 프린터프로세서(228)는 스풀파일부(226)에 저장되어 있는 PDL데이터에 해당하는 페이지 데이터를 프린터(240)로 전송한다.
프린터(240)는 호스트 컴퓨터(220)에서 수신되는 PDL 데이터량을 비교치와 비교하여 잘못된 데이터가 지속적으로 인쇄되어지는 것을 방지한다. 즉, PDL 해석부(242)는 호스트 컴퓨터(220)로부터 전송되는 PDL 데이터를 수신하여 화상 인쇄 데이터로 해석하여 화상을 생성한다. 인쇄내용분석부(244)는 현재 페이지에 인쇄되는 데이터양을 기준치와 비교하며, 이때 페이지 데이터양이 기준치에 미달하면 플래그를 셋팅해둔다. 계속적으로 인쇄내용분석부(244)는 플래그가 셋팅되어 있는 상태에서 기준치에 미달하는 페이지 데이터가 3회연속으로 감지되면 현 상태에서 인쇄 작업을 중지하고 호스트컴퓨터(220)로 인쇄 내용의 확인 신호와 함께 계속 인쇄를 실행할 것인가에 대한 요구신호를 전송한다. 호스트 컴퓨터(220)의 인터페이스모듈부(229)는 프린터의 결과를 화면에 디스플레이하며 유저인터페이스부(230)를 통해 사용자가 선택한 내용을 프린터측의 인쇄내용분석부(244)에 전송하여 인쇄작업을 지속시키던지 아닌지 중단시킨다. 이에 따라 프린트엔진부(246)는 인쇄내용분석부(244)로부터 인쇄할 데이터가 있으면 인쇄물(250)을 출력한다.
도 3은 본 발명에 따른 네트워크 프린터에서 인쇄 오류 방지 방법을 보이는 흐름도이다.
먼저, 310과정에서 호스트 컴퓨터로부터 수신되는 페이지 데이터를 분석한다.
320과정에서 분석된 현재 페이지 데이터양이 일정한 기준치와 비교한다.
330, 340과정에서 데이터양이 기준치에 미달하면 플래그 셋팅한다.
350, 360과정에서 플래그가 셋팅되어 잇는 상태에서 기준치에 미달하는 페이지 데이터가 3회반복되면 호스트 컴퓨터에 인쇄중지를 문의한다.
360,370, 380과정에서 호스트 컴퓨터로부터 계속 인쇄 진행에 대한 대답을 요구하여 그에 대한 확인에 따라 인쇄중지 및 인쇄를 수행한다.
상술한 바와 같이 본 발명에 의하면, 호스트 컴퓨터에서 프린터로 전송되는 데이터가 잘못된 데이터로서 지속적으로 인쇄되는 것을 방지함으로써 불필요한 종이의 낭비를 줄일 수있다.
도 1은 일반적인 호스트 컴퓨터와 프린터간의 인쇄 프로세서를 도시한 것이다.
도 2는 본 발명에 따른 인쇄 오류 방지 장치의 전체 구성도이다.
도 3은 본 발명에 따른 네트워크 프린터에서 인쇄 오류 방지 방법을 보이는 흐름도이다.

Claims (3)

  1. 컴퓨터로부터 인쇄명령을 받아 인쇄물을 출력하는 네트워크 프린터에서 인쇄 오류를 방지하는 방법에 있어서,
    상기 수신되는 페이지 데이터를 분석하여 페이지에 인쇄되는 데이터량과 일정 기준치를 비교하는 과정;
    상기 과정에서 그 페이지 데이터양이 연속적으로 소정 횟수만큼 상기 일정 기준치에 미달하면 인쇄작업을 중단하고 상기 컴퓨터로 인쇄 내용의 확인과 함께 계속 인쇄 실행 여부를 요구하는 과정을 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 네트워크 프린터의 인쇄 오류 방지 방법.
  2. 컴퓨터로부터 인쇄명령을 받아 인쇄물을 출력하는 네트워크 프린터에 있어서,
    상기 컴퓨터로부터 페이지 디스크립션 언어(PDL) 데이터를 수신하여 화상 인쇄 데이터로 해석하는 PDL 해석부;
    상기 PDL 해석부로부터 해석된 매 페이지마다에 인쇄되어지는 데이터양을 일정 기준치와 비교하여 페이지 데이터양이 일정 기준치에 미달할 마다 플래그를 셋팅하고, 상기 플래그가 셋팅되어 있는 상태에서 상기 일정 기준치에 미달하는 페이지 데이터가 소정 횟수 감지되면 인쇄 작업 중지를 문의하고 상기 컴퓨터로 인쇄 내용의 확인 신호와 인쇄 실행 여부 요구 신호를 전송하는 인쇄내용분석부;
    상기 인쇄내용분석부로부터 인쇄할 데이터가 있으면 인쇄물을 출력하는 프린트 엔진부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 네트워크 프린터의 인쇄 오류 방지 장치.
  3. 제2항에 있어서, 상기 컴퓨터는 상기 인쇄내용분석부에서 분석된 결과를 화면에 디스플레이하여 사용자의 대응을 요구하는 인터페이스 모듈부를 포함하는 것을 특징으로 하는 네트워크 프린터의 인쇄 오류 방지 장치.
