Abstract

PURPOSE: A method for measuring a residual amount of toner is provided to realize linear data related to a toner consumption amount, thereby providing accurate information related to a residual amount of toner. CONSTITUTION: A microcomputer confirms a span life of a toner container, a toner consumption amount, and a residual amount of toner(S100). The microcomputer compares the span life of the toner container with a toner consumption amount for judging whether a toner supply system is normal(S102). If not, the microcomputer judges that an error is generated in detecting the toner consumption amount(S104). If so, it is judged whether the consistency of the toner of an image is lower than a reference value(S106). If not, the toner consumption amount is displayed to a user in gauge(S108). The microcomputer supplies toner to a developing chamber for a driving time newly set(S110). A toner supply driving time of one page section is accumulated on a memory(S112). It is judged whether the toner consistency is the same as a reference value(S114). If so, a toner amount consumed for the toner driving time is added to the existing toner consumption amount(S116). The microcomputer displays the toner consumption amount in gauge(S118). The toner supply driving time of one page section stored in a system becomes 0(S120).
