Abstract

본 발명은 디지탈 자기 기록재생 시스템의 복사 방지장치에 관한 것이다.
종래의 아날로그 방식의 복사방지방법이 NTSC급 영상에만 적용가능하고 영상신호자체를 변화시키기 어려워 복사방지방법에 한계가 있던 점을 감안하여 본 발명은 입력되는 데이타중의 암호화된 CPF만을 분리하는 CPF분리부, 암호화 키가 저장되어 있는 암호화 키 저장부, 상기 암호화 키 저장부에 저장된 암호화 키를 이용하여 상기 CPF분리부에서 분리된 CPF를 해독하는 CPF해독부와, 상기 CPF해독부의 출력을 분석하여 프로그램 공급업자가 원하는 복사방지기능이 어느 종류의 복사방지기능인지를 판단하는 CPF분석부, 상기 CPF분석부에서 분석된 복사방지기능을 선택하는 기록 기능선택부, 복사불가를 나타내는 복사방지마커(NCM)를 암호화하는 마커 암호화부, 상기 마커 암호화부에서 암호화된 복사방지마커를 비트 스트림에 삽입하는 마커 삽입부로 구성되어 디지탈 VCR에 적용하여 복사방지기능에 대한 정보와 기능수행을 위한 마커(Marker)를 암호화하여 삽입하여 다양한 복사방지기능을 수행하고 프로그램 공급자가 원하는 여러형태의 복사방지기능을 실현할 수 있도록 한 것이다.

본 발명은 디지탈 자기 기록재생 시스템의 복사 방지장치에 관한 것으로서, 더욱 상세하게는 복사방지기능에 대한 정보와 기능수행을 위한 마커(Marker)를 암호화하여 삽입하여 복사방지기능을 수행하고 프로그램 공급자가 원하는 여러형태의 복사방지기능을 실현할 수 있도록 한 디지탈 자기 기록재생 시스템의 복사 방지장치에 관한 것이다.
종래의 복사방지방법으로는 미국특허 제 4, 819, 098호를 일예로 들 수 있으며, 이는 VCR내의 자동이득제어(AGC)회로에 간섭을 일으키는 신호를 비데오 파형에 삽입하여 테이프에 기록하는 방법이며, 이 테이프를 재생하여 TV를 통해 시청할 경우 간섭 신호는 TV의 AGC회로에 영향을 주지 않아 정상적인 디스플레이가 가능하다.
그러나 재생된 신호를 다른 VCR이 녹화하는 경우(복사하는 경우) 간섭신호가 녹화하는 VCR의 AGC회로에 간섭을 일으키므로서 부정확한 신호레벨을 기록하게 한다.
따라서 복사된 테이프를 재생하는 경우 정상적인 디스플레이가 되지 않게 된다.
그리고 다른 예로 미국특허 제 4, 571, 642호는 재생중 VCR내의 서보회로를 동기시키는데 사용되는 콘트롤 트랙을 이용하여 복사방지기능을 구현한 특허이며, 이 특허의 원리는 다른 테이프로 복사할 때 콘트롤 트랙이 부정확하게 기록되도록 비데오 신호를 변화시키는 방법이다.
또다른 예로 미국특허 제 4, 577, 216호는 비데오 신호의 크로마 버스트(Chroma Burst)부분에 위상 노이즈(Phase Noise)와 같은 것을 삽입하여 복사방지기능을 구현한 특허이다.
상기와 같은 방법들은 모두 TV의 회로와 이에 대응하는 VCR의 회로사이의 감도(Sensitivity)의 차이를 이용하는 방법들이다. 따라서, 이러한 방법으로 복사방지된 테이프는 일부의 VCR에서는 복사방지가 안될 수도 있으며, 일부의 TV에서는 원본도 정상적인 디스플레이이가 되지 않을 수도 있는 단점을 갖고 있다.
또한, 상기의 방법들은 아날로그 방식의 복사방지방법으로서 아날로그 방식의 복사방지방법은 NTSC급 영상에 대해서 아날로그 VCR로의 복사를 막는데 유용한 방법이다. 그러나 ATV의 고해상도 영상의 경우에는 아날로그 VCR보다는 디지탈 VCR을 이용한 복사가 이루어지므로 아날로그 방식의 복사방지방법이 적용되기 어렵다.
따라서 본 발명은 디지탈 VCR에 적용가능하며 다양한 복사방지기능과 함께 프로그램 공급업자가 원하는 복사방지기능을 선택할 수 있도록 한 디지탈 자기 기록재생 시스템의 복사 방지장치를 제공함에 그 목적이 있다.
이러한 목적을 달성하기 위한 본 발명의 특징은 입력되는 데이타중의 암호화된 CPF만을 분리하는 CPF분리부와, 암호화 키가 저장되어 있는 암호화 키 저장부와, 상기 암호화 키 저장부에 저장된 암호화 키를 이용하여 상기 CPF분리부에서 분리된 CPF를 해독하는 CPF해독부와, 상기 CPF해독부의 출력을 분석하여 프로그램 공급업자가 원하는 복사방지기능이 어느 종류의 복사방지기능인지를 판단하는 CPF분석부와, 상기 CPF분석부에서 분석된 복사방지기능을 선택하는 제 1 기능 선택부와, 복사불가를 나타내는 복사방지마커(NCM)를 암호화하는 마커 암호화부와, 상기 마커 암호화부에서 암호화된 복사방지마커를 비트 스트림에 삽입하는 마커 삽입부로 구성되는 디지탈 자기 기록재생 시스템의 복사 방지장치에 있다.
이하, 본 발명의 바람직한 실시예를 첨부도면을 참조로 하여 상세히 설명한다.
본 발명을 설명하기에 앞서 GA(Grand Alliance)의 전송규격을 따르는 비트 스트림인 전송 스트림(Transport Stream)의 구조를 제 1 도와 함께 살펴보면 다음과 같다.
전송 스트림은 고정된 길이의 전송 패킷(Packet)들로 구성되며, 전송 패킷은 전송헤더(Transport Header)와 데이타(Payload)로 구성되며, 도면에서 PES 헤더는 Packetized Elementary Stream이다.
전송 헤더는 패킷 동기(Synchronization), 패킷 ID(Identification), 에러 핸들링(Error Handling)등에 필요한 정보를 갖고 있으며, 4바이트의 고정된 길이를 가지는 링크(Link)헤더와 가변길이를 갖는 적응 헤더(Adaptation Header)로 구성된다.
상기 적응 헤더는 패킷에 따라 선택적으로 존재하는 필드들을 가지고 있으며, 이 필드중 전송 프라이비트 데이타(Transport Private Date) 필드는 일반적인 MPEG 디코더에서는 인식할 수 없는 프라이비트 데이타를 전송하는 필드이다.
이 필드는 짧은 길이의 제어정보를 전송하는데 사용되도록 정의되어 있으며, 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드는 전송 프라이비트 데이타 플래그가 1일 경우에 존재하게 된다. 이 경우 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드의 길이가 가변이므로 이 필드의 길이를 나타내는 8비트의 길이 필드(Length Field)가 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드의 앞에 존재한다.
본 발명은 상기의 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드에 프로그램 공급업자가 원하는 복사방지기능에 대한 정보를 암호화하여 삽입함으로써 복사방지기능을 수행하게 되며, 이에 대해서는 후술한다.
한편, 본 발명의 복사방지장치는 디지탈 VCR이 여러가지 신호를 모두 테이프에 녹화할 수 있어야 한다는 점을 강조하여 입력될 수 있는 여러종류의 신호를 크게 두가지로 분류하고 각 신호별로 각각 다른 복사방지기능을 수행하도록 한다.
우선, 지상(Terrestrial)방송, 위성(Satellite)방송, 케이블로 전송되어 오는 신호를 방송신호로 분류하고, 이 신호를 녹화할때는 다음과 같이 세가지 복사방지기능을 가진다.

여기서, 기능3)은 TV수신기에서 오는 신호를 테이프로 1회 녹화하는 것은 가능하지만 1회 녹화된 테이프를 재생하는 경우 시청은 가능하나 다른 디지탈 VCR에서 이 신호를 녹화하지 못하게 막는 방법이다.
두번째 분류는 대여용 테이프(Rental Tape)로서 기록매체에 기록된(Pretaped) 신호로 분류하고, 이 신호를 녹화할때의 복사방지기능은 위의 기능1, 기능2의 기능과 유사하며 다음과 같은 세가지 복사방지기능을 가진다.

여기서, 기능6은 대여용 테이프 원본으로 부터는 복사본을 만들 수 있으나 복사본으로 부터 또 다른 복사본을 만들지 못하게 하는 방법으로 DAT(Digital Audio Tape)에서 사용되는 복사방지기능이다.
본 발명은 위의 기능들을 프로그램 공급업자가 프로그램 공급시에 선택할 수 있게 하는 장점을 가지며, 이를 위해서는 프로그램 공급업자가 원하는 복사방지기능에 대한 정보(Copy Protection Function Information:이하, CPF라 칭함)를 프로그램 내의 정해진 필드에 삽입하여 프로그램을 분배한다.
프로그램 공급업자가 전송 데이타상에 삽입하여 전송하는 CPF는 암호화되어 있으며, CPF를 해독할 수 있는 암호화키는 한달에 1번 정도 전화선과 같은 별도의 전송로를 통해 전송되어 복사방지장치내에 저장되어 있다.
위의 복사방지기능들을 구현하는 복사방지장치는 ATV디코더와 디지탈 VCR이 일체형인 시스템에서 ATV디코더와 디지탈 VCR사이의 인터페이스 과정에서 디지탈 복사방지기능을 수행하도록 되며, 수신된 암호화 키를 이용하여 수신된 프로그램의 CPF를 해독하고 판단하여 각각의 복사방지기능에 따른 다른 기능을 수행한다.
한편, 프로그램 공급업자는 CPF를 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드에 제 2 도와 같은 포맷으로 삽입하여 전송한다. 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드는 가변길이필드이므로 CPF정보를 원하는 만큼 넣을 수 있다.
GA포맷은 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드를 짧은 길이의 제어정보를 전송하는데 사용하도록 정의하였으므로 이 필드는 어플리케이션에 따라 다른 용도로 사용될 수도 있다.
따라서 이 필드의 데이타가 CPF 데이타임을 알려주는 ID를 추가하여 다른 용도로 사용되는 데이타와 구분할 수 있도록 한다. 결국, 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드는 ID필드와 CPF필드의 두 부분으로 구성된다. CPF 데이타는 초당 1개 정도의 빈도로 전송한다.
한편, 제 3 도는 본 발명의 전체적인 개념 블럭 구성도를 도시한 것으로, 복사방지 장치(500)는 ATV디코더와 디지탈 VCR 사이에 구성되며, 본 발명의 전체적인 동작은 프로그램 공급업자가 CPF를 삽입하여 전송한 데이타를 TV의 튜너가 수신하여 모뎀/RS디코더(100)를 거친 후 프로그램 분리기(200)에서 프로그램을 분리하여 하나의 프로그램만을 디지탈 VCR로 보낸다.
그리고 본 발명의 복사방지장치(500)는 프로그램 분리후에 위치하여 CPF를 판독하고 복사방지기능을 수행하며, 이는 하나의 프로그램을 받아서 데이타중에서 CPF를 분리한 후 복사방지장치(500)내에 저장된 암호화키를 사용하여 암호화된 CPF를 해독한다. 해독한 CPF를 분석하여 복사방지기능을 판독한 후 해당하는 복사방지기능에 따라 복사방지동작을 수행한다.
상기와 같은 본 발명의 복사방지동작을 제 1 및 제 2 실시예로 나누어 설명한다.
제 1 실시예
제 4 도는 본 발명의 제 1 실시예에 따른 블럭 구성도를 도시한 것으로, 기록부는 입력되는 데이타중의 암호화된 CPF를 분리하는 CPF분리부(501)와, 암호화 키가 저장되어 있는 암호화 키 저장부(507)와, 상기 암호화 키 저장부(507)에 저장된 암호화키를 이용하여 상기 CPF분리부(501)에서 분리된 CPF를 해독하는 CPF해독부(502)와, 상기 CPF해독부(502)의 출력을 분석하여 프로그램 공급업자가 원하는 복사방지기능이 어느 종류의 복사방지기능인지를 판단하는 CPF분석부(503)와, 상기 CPF분석부(503)에서 분석된 복사방지기능을 선택하는 제 1 기능 선택부(504)와, 복사불가를 나타내는 복사방지마커(No Copy Marker : 이하, NCM이라 칭함)를 암호화하는 마커 암호화부(505)와, 상기 마커 암호화부(505)에서 암호화된 복사방지마커를 비트 스트림에 삽입하는 마커 삽입부(506)로 구성되며, 재생부는 테이프 재생시 기록시 암호화되어 기록된 복사방지마커를 분리하는 마커 분리부(508)와, 상기 암호화 키 저장부(507)에 저장되어 있는 암호화 키를 이용하여 상기 마커 분리부(508)로 부터의 복사방지마커를 해독하는 마커 해독부(509)와, 복사방지마커를 인식하여 기록된 신호가 어느 복사방지기능에 해당되는 신호인지를 판단하는 마커 분석부(510)와, 상기 마커분리부(508) 및 마커 분석부(510)의 분석결과에 따라 재생되는 신호가 어느 복사방지기능에 해당되는가를 선택하는 제 2 기능 선택부(511)와, 상기 마커 분석부(510)에서 1세대 복사마커(First Generation Copy Marker : 이하, FGM이라 칭함)가 검출되면 FGM을 NCM으로 대체하는 마커 대체부(512)로 구성된다.
상기와 같이 구성된 제 1 실시예에서 방송신호의 경우에는 기능1-기능3을 수행하며 기록부와 재생부의 두가지 동작이 필요하다.
반면에 기록된 신호는 테이프를 통해 공급되며 복사를 위해서는 두개의 디지탈 VCR이 필요한데, 이 신호를 재생하는 디지탈 VCR은 복사방지장치의 재생부 동작을 수행하며, 자기기록매체에 기록된 신호의 복사방지기능은 기능 4-기능6을 수행한다.
우선, 방송신호는 모뎀/RS디코더(100) 및 프로그램 분리기(200)를 거쳐 하나의 프로그램으로 분리되어 복사방지장치(500)로 입력된다.
입력된 데이타는 우선 CPF분리부(501)에서 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드의 ID를 읽어서 암호화된 CPF만을 분리해내는 작업을 수행하며 분리된 CPF를 CPF해독부(502)로 보낸다.
상기 CPF해독부(502)는 암호화 키 저장부(507)에 저장된 암호화키를 사용하여 암호화된 CPF를 해독하여 CPF분석부(503)로 보낸다. CPF가 해독되면 CPF분석부(503)는 프로그램 공급업자가 원하는 복사방지기능인 CPF를 분석하여 기능 1-기능 3중에서 어느 기능인지를 인식하여 제 1 기능 선택부(504)로 정보를 보낸다.
기능 1의 테이프로의 녹화절대불가인 경우에는 제 1 기능 선택부(504)에서 디지탈 VCR로 출력은 하지 않는다.
기능 2의 테이프로의 자유로운 녹화 및 복사허용인 경우에는 마커 삽입부(506)를 거치지 않고 디지탈 VCR의 포맷터로 보내어 테이프에 녹화한다.
이 경우 재생시 마커 분석부(510)에서 아무런 마커도 검출되지 않으므로 다른 디지탈 VCR2로 출력이 가능하다.
기능 3의 테이프로의 1회녹화기능, 녹화된 테이프의 복사불가인 경우에는 디지탈 VCR로 기록된 테이프를 다시 복사하는 것을 막아야하므로, 복사불가를 나타내는 NCM을 마커 암호화부(505)에서 암호화한 후 마커 삽입부(506)에서 NCM을 GA비트스트림에 삽입하여 디지탈 VCR의 포맷터로 전송하여 테이프에 녹화한다.
이 테이프의 재생시에는 마커 분리부(508)에서 마커를 분리하고 난 후 마커 분석부(510)에서 NCM을 인식하여 다른 디지탈 VCR로 출력되지 않도록 한다.
NCM을 비트스트림내에 삽입하는 위치는 CPF가 전송되었던 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드이다.
전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드상에 존재했던 CPF는 이미 복사방지장치에서 해독되었으므로 테이프에 기록할 필요가 없는 정보이다.
따라서 이 필드에서 CPF를 삭제한 후 NCM을 삽입으로 대체하여 기록하면 테이프에 기록하는 데이타양을 증가시키지 않으면서 NCM을 삽입할 수 있다. NCM은 마커 암호화부(505)에서 암호화하여 삽입하므로 보안성을 높인다.
한편, 테이프에 이미 기록되어 있는 신호는 디지탈 VCR에서 복사방지장치의 재생부로 입력된다.
기능 4의 다른 테이프로의 복사절대불가인 테이프는 NCM이 테이프내에 기록되어 있다. 즉, 프로그램 공급업자는 NCM을 방송신호의 경우 CPF가 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드에 삽입되어 전송되는 것과 같은 방식으로 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드에 기록한다.
NCM이 기록된 테이프로부터 재생된 데이타가 마커 분석부(510)로 입력되면 마커 분석부(510)는 NCM을 검출하여 다른 디지탈 VCR로 출력되지 않도록 한다.
기능 5의 다른 테이프로의 자유로운 복사허용인 경우 테이프에는 아무런 마커도 기록되어 있지 않다. 따라서 이 테이프를 재생할 경우 마커 분석부(510)는 재생된 데이타로 부터 아무런 마커도 검출하지 못하므로 다른 디지탈 VCR로 출력가능하도록 한다.
기능 6의 다른 테이프로의 1세대 복사허용인 경우 테이프의 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드내에 FGM이 삽입되어 있다.
재생시 마커 분석부(510)에서 FGM이 검출되면 마커 대체부(512)에서 FGM을 NCM으로 대체하고 데이타를 다른 디지탈 VCR로 전송한다. 녹화하는 디지탈 VCR은 그대로 신호를 테이프에 기록하며 이 경우 1세대 복사가 이루어진 것이다.
이렇게 복사된 테이프는 기능4의 다른 테이프로의 복사절대불가상태의 테이프가 되므로 이 테이프로 부터의 2세대 복사는 불가능하다.
제 2 실시예
본 발명의 제 2실시예는 복사방지장치에 스크램블러(Scrambler)를 내장하여 녹화할 데이타를 스크램블링하여 복사방지정도를 높이는 방법으로, 제 1 실시예는 영상 데이타를 별다른 조치를 취하지 않고 테이프에 기록한 방식이었으나 제 2 실시예는 영상 데이타를 스크램블링하고 그 스크램블링 키를 암호화하여 복사방지정도를 향상시키는 방식이다.
제 5 도는 본 발명의 제 2 실시예의 구성 블럭도를 도시한 것으로, 제 1 실시예의 기록부의 제1 기능 선택부(516)와 마커 암호화부(517) 사이에 스크램블러(520)가 더 구성되고, 재생부에는 TV의 출력단 앞에 상기 스크램블러(520)에 의해 스크램블링된 데이타를 디스크램블링하는 디스크램블러(526)가 더 구성되며, 나머지 구성은 제 1 실시예와 동일하다.
상기와 같은 구성을 갖는 본 발명의 제 2 실시예는 제 1 실시예의 동작에 데이타를 스크램블링하고 스크램블링키를 암호화하는 동작을 더한 형태이며, 제 2 실시예의 동작을 제 1 실시예의 기능들을 인용하여 설명하면 다음과 같다.
우선, 기능1과 기능2는 제 1 실시예와 동일하며 기능 3의 경우에는 NCM을 삽입하기전에 스크램블러(520)에서 영상 데이타를 스크램블링하고 마커 암호화부(517)에서 NCM과 함께 암호화를 행하여 NCM과 함께 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드에 삽입하여 재생시 NCM과 함께 스크램블링 키를 검출하고 해독하여 디스크램블러(526)에서 영상데이타를 해독한다.
영상 데이타를 스크램블링하므로써 재생시에 헤커(Hecker)들에 의해 마커가 공략당하더라도 데이타를 해독할 수 없으므로 복사방지정도가 향상된다.
기능 4의 경우 프로그램 공급업자가 데이타를 스크램블링하고 NCM과 함께 테이프내에 삽입되어 전송되므로 재생된 데이타에서 마커와 스크램블링 키를 해독하고 디스크램블러(526)에서 데이타를 해독한다.
기능 5는 제 1 실시예와 동일하며, 기능 6의 경우는 FGM과 함께 스크램블링 키가 삽입되어 있으므로 재생시 스크램블링 키를 해독한다.
이상에서 살펴본 바와 같이 본 발명은 다양한 복사방지기능을 수행할 수 있게 되며 프로그램 공급업자가 복사방지기능을 선택할 수 있으며, GA포맷내에 정의된 필드를 이용하므로 복사방지기능을 위한 별도의 포맷변환장치가 필요없으며, 기록할 데이타양의 증가가 없으므로 기존의 디지탈 VCR을 변환시킬 필요없이 복사방지기능을 수행할 수 있게 된다.

Claims (5)

  1. 입력되는 데이타중의 암호화된 CPF(Copy Protection Function Information)를 분리하는 CPF분리부와,
    암호화 키가 저장되어 있는 암호화 키 저장부와,
    상기 암호화 키 저장부에 저장된 암호화 키를 이용하여 상기 CPF분리부에서 분리된 CPF를 해독하는 CPF해독부와,
    상기 CPF해독부의 출력을 분석하여 프로그램 공급업자가 원하는 복사방지기능이 어느 종류의 복사방지기능인지를 판단하는 CPF분석부와,
    상기 CPF분석부에서 분석된 복사방지기능을 선택하는 제 1 기능 선택부를 포함하여 구성됨을 특징으로 하는 디지탈 자기 기록재생 시스템의 복사 방지장치.
  2. 제 1 항에 있어서,
    복사불가를 나타내는 복사방지마커(No Copy Marker)를 암호화하는 마커 암호화부와,
    상기 마커 암호화부에서 암호화된 복사방지마커를 비트 스트림에 삽입하는 마커삽입부가 더 추가됨을 특징으로 하는 디지탈 자기기록재생시스템의 복사방지장치.
  3. 제 2 항에 있어서,
    테이프 재생시 기록시 암호화디어 기록된 복사방지마커를 분리하는 마커 분리부와,
    상기 암호화 키 저장부에 저장되어 있는 암호화 키를 이용하여 복사방지마커를 해독하는 마커 해독부와,
    상기 마커 해독부의 출력으로 부터 복사방지마커를 인식하여 재생되는 신호가 어느 복사방지기능에 해당되는 신호인지를 판단하는 마커 분석부와,
    상기 마커 분리부 및 마커 분석부의 분석결과에 따라 기록된 신호가 어느 복사방지기능에 해당되는가를 선택하는 제 2 기능 선택부와,
    상기 마커 분석부에서 1세대 복사마커(First Generation Copy Marker)가 검출되면 1세대 복사마커를 복사방지마커로 대체하는 마커 대체부가 더 구비됨을 특징으로 하는 디지탈 자기 기록재생 시스템의 복사 방지장치.
  4. 제 2 항 또는 제 3 항에 있어서,
    상기 제 1 기능 선택부와 마커 암호화부 사이에 데이타를 스크램블링하는 스크램블러가 구성되며, TV출력단에 상기 스크램블러에 의해 스크램블링된 데이타를 디스크램블링하는 디스크램블러가 더 구성됨을 특징으로 하는 디지탈 자기 기록재생 시스템의 복사 방지장치.
  5. 제 2 항 또는 제 3 항에 있어서,
    상기 CPF와 복사방지마커와 1세대 복사마커는 GA비트스트림의 전송 프라이비트 데이타 필드에 삽입됨을 특징으로 하는 디지탈 자기 기록재생 시스템의 복사 방지장치.
