Description

The present invention relates to a carbon nanotube high-density aggregate and a method for producing a carbon nanotube high-density aggregate.

Carbon nanotubes are known to have excellent mechanical strength, electrical conductivity, and thermal conductivity. Therefore, it has been studied to grow a plurality of carbon nanotubes into a carbon nanotube aggregate and use it for various industrial products. In such an aggregate of carbon nanotubes, it is desired to increase the density of a plurality of carbon nanotubes in order to further improve electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity.

For example, the thermal conductive sheet includes a carbon nanotube array including a plurality of carbon nanotubes, and a polymer matrix for binding a plurality of carbon nanotubes, the density of the carbon nanotube array is 0.1g / cm 3 ~2.2g / cm 3 Has been proposed (see, for example, Patent Document 1).

And, such a heat conductive sheet grows a carbon nanotube array on a substrate, then fills the carbon nanotube array with a liquid polymer precursor, and then compresses the carbon nanotube array, and then polymerizes the polymer precursor. The carbon nanotube array containing the polymer matrix is prepared by cutting from the substrate.

However, in the heat conductive sheet described in Patent Document 1, since a polymer matrix is included in the carbon nanotube array, there is a limit in improving the average number (average density) of carbon nanotubes per unit area. Moreover, there exists a malfunction that a polymer matrix becomes an electrical resistance and a thermal resistance, and each of the electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity of a heat conductive sheet will fall.

Therefore, an object of the present invention is to provide a carbon nanotube high-density assembly and a method for producing the carbon nanotube high-density assembly that can improve the electrical conductivity and the thermal conductivity, respectively.

The present invention [1] includes a step of preparing a carbon nanotube aggregate composed of a plurality of carbon nanotubes arranged on a substrate and oriented perpendicularly to the substrate, and the plurality of carbon nanotubes are formed of the carbon nanotubes. A step of compressing the aggregate of carbon nanotubes so as to be in contact with each other in a direction orthogonal to an orientation direction, and a step of peeling the compressed aggregate of carbon nanotubes from the substrate. Includes a manufacturing method for the assembly.

According to such a method, the aggregate of carbon nanotubes composed of a plurality of carbon nanotubes oriented perpendicular to the substrate is compressed so that the plurality of carbon nanotubes are in contact with each other in a direction perpendicular to the orientation direction.

Therefore, in the high-density aggregate of carbon nanotubes, it is possible to improve the average density of the plurality of carbon nanotubes while ensuring the orientation of the carbon nanotubes.

Further, in such a high-density aggregate of carbon nanotubes, a plurality of carbon nanotubes are close to each other in a direction orthogonal to the orientation direction, so that the shape is formed by van der Waals force acting between adjacent carbon nanotubes. Can hold. That is, the high density aggregate of carbon nanotubes can maintain the shape without including a polymer matrix.

Therefore, it is possible to improve each of the electrical conductivity and the thermal conductivity of the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate.

Therefore, although it is a simple method, it is possible to produce a high-density aggregate of carbon nanotubes that can improve the electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity, in particular, the electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity in the orientation direction of the carbon nanotubes. .

The present invention [2] is the carbon according to [1], wherein in the step of compressing the carbon nanotube aggregate, the carbon nanotube aggregate is pressed against the carbon nanotube aggregate from the opposite side of the substrate. A method for producing a high density aggregate of nanotubes is included.

According to such a method, the aggregate of carbon nanotubes is pressed from the opposite side of the substrate when compressed in a direction orthogonal to the orientation direction of the carbon nanotubes. Therefore, the movement of the carbon nanotubes in the carbon nanotube aggregate in the alignment direction is restricted when the carbon nanotube aggregate is compressed.

As a result, since the carbon nanotube aggregate can be reliably compressed in the orthogonal direction, it is possible to reliably increase the density of the plurality of carbon nanotubes in the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate.

The present invention [3] further includes a step of heating the compressed carbon nanotube aggregate to 1800 ° C. or higher after the step of compressing the carbon nanotube aggregate. The manufacturing method of the high-density assembly of carbon nanotubes described in the above.

According to such a method, since the compressed carbon nanotube aggregate is heated to 1800 ° C. or higher, the crystallinity of the graphene constituting the carbon nanotube can be improved. Therefore, it is possible to reliably improve the electrical conductivity and the thermal conductivity of the high-density aggregate of carbon nanotubes.

According to the present invention [4], in the step of heating the carbon nanotube aggregate, before the carbon nanotube aggregate is heated, the carbon nanotube aggregate is impregnated with a polymer-containing liquid containing a polymer material. The method for producing a high-density aggregate of carbon nanotubes according to the above [3], in which amorphous carbon is adhered, is included.

According to such a method, the aggregate of carbon nanotubes is heated to 1800 ° C. or higher after being impregnated with a polymer-containing liquid containing a polymer material or after amorphous carbon is adhered.

When the carbon nanotube aggregate is impregnated with the polymer-containing liquid, the carbon nanotube aggregate is heated to 1800 ° C. or higher after the polymer material is attached to the surface of the carbon nanotube. Then, the polymer material attached to the surface of the carbon nanotube is graphitized (graphitized).

When amorphous carbon is attached to the carbon nanotube aggregate, the amorphous carbon is attached to the surface of the carbon nanotube, and then the carbon nanotube aggregate is heated to 1800 ° C. or higher. Then, the amorphous carbon adhering to the surface of the carbon nanotube is graphitized (graphitized).

That is, according to said method, graphite (graphite) can be made to adhere to the surface of a carbon nanotube. Therefore, each improvement of the electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity of a carbon nanotube high-density assembly can be achieved more reliably.

The present invention [5] is described in any one of the above [1] to [4], further comprising a step of supplying a liquid to the carbon nanotube aggregate after the step of compressing the carbon nanotube aggregate. The manufacturing method of the high-density assembly of carbon nanotubes is included.

According to such a method, since the liquid is supplied to the compressed carbon nanotube aggregate, the carbon nanotubes adjacent to each other are aggregated in the compressed carbon nanotube aggregate when the liquid is vaporized. Therefore, in the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate, it is possible to further improve the average density of the plurality of carbon nanotubes.

This invention [6] contains the carbon nanotube high-density assembly manufactured by the manufacturing method of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly as described in any one of said [1]-[5].

According to such a configuration, it is possible to improve each of the electrical conductivity and the thermal conductivity, in particular, to improve each of the electrical conductivity and the thermal conductivity in the orientation direction of the carbon nanotube.

In the present invention [7], a plurality of carbon nanotubes oriented in a predetermined direction are arranged so as to be continuous in a sheet shape in a direction orthogonal to the predetermined direction without being continuous with each other in the predetermined direction, The average density of the plurality of carbon nanotubes arranged in a sheet shape is 4.0 × 10 10 pieces / cm 2 or more and 8.0 × 10 11 pieces / cm 2 or less, and the plurality of carbon nanotubes are in contact with each other. As such, it includes a high-density aggregate of carbon nanotubes that retains its shape.

According to such a configuration, the plurality of carbon nanotubes oriented in a predetermined direction are arranged in a sheet shape continuously in a direction orthogonal to the predetermined direction, and the average density of the plurality of carbon nanotubes is 4 0.0 × 10 10 pieces / cm 2 or more and 8.0 × 10 11 pieces / cm 2 or less, so that in the high-density aggregate of carbon nanotubes, the orientation of the plurality of carbon nanotubes can be secured, and The average density can be improved.

In addition, the high-density aggregate of carbon nanotubes retains the shape so that a plurality of carbon nanotubes are in contact with each other, and therefore can retain the shape without including a polymer matrix.

As a result, it is possible to improve each of the electrical conductivity and the thermal conductivity, in particular, to improve each of the electrical conductivity and the thermal conductivity in the orientation direction of the carbon nanotube.

The method for producing a high-density carbon nanotube assembly of the present invention is a simple method, but can produce a high-density carbon nanotube assembly capable of improving the electrical conductivity and the thermal conductivity.

Moreover, the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate of the present invention can improve each of electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity.

Thereby, the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1 maintains the shape of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 by van der Waals force acting between the carbon nanotubes 2 adjacent to each other.

In the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1, the average number (average density) per unit area of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 is 4.0 × 10 10 / cm 2 or more, preferably 8.0 × 10 10. Book / cm 2 or more, more preferably 1.0 × 10 11 pieces / cm 2 or more, 8.0 × 10 11 pieces / cm 2 or less, preferably 4.0 × 10 11 pieces / cm 2 or less, Preferably, it is 3.0 × 10 11 pieces / cm 2 or less. Note that the average density of the carbon nanotubes 2 is measured by, for example, an SEM photograph.

The electrical conductivity of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 is, for example, 2000 S / m or more, preferably 5000 S / m or more, such as 17000 S / m or less, preferably 13000 S / m or less in the thickness direction. In the surface direction, it is 200 S / m or more, preferably 500 S / m or more, for example, 1700 S / m or less, preferably 1300 S / m or less. The electrical conductivity is measured by a known electrical conductivity measuring device (for example, manufactured by Yokogawa Electric Corporation).

The thermal conductivity of the high-density carbon nanotube aggregate 1 is, for example, 4 W / (m · K) or more, preferably 10 W / (m · K) or more, for example, 35 W / (m · K) in the thickness direction. ) Or less, preferably 30 W / (m · K) or less, and in the surface direction, 0.5 W / (m · K) or more, preferably 1 W / (m · K) or more, for example, 3.5 W / (M · K) or less, preferably 3.0 W / (m · K) or less. The thermal conductivity is measured by a known thermal conductivity measuring device (for example, manufactured by Mentor Graphics Japan).
2. Method for producing high-density aggregate of carbon nanotubes
Next, the manufacturing method of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 will be described.

For example, as shown in FIGS. 1A to 2C, the method for producing the high-density carbon nanotube assembly 1 includes a step of preparing a carbon nanotube assembly 13 disposed on the substrate 8 (see FIGS. 1A to 1C), It includes a step of compressing the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 (see FIGS. 1D to 2B) and a step of peeling the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1 from the substrate 8 (see FIG. 2C).

In such a manufacturing method, first, as shown in FIG. 1A, a substrate 8 is prepared.

The board | substrate 8 is not specifically limited, For example, the well-known board | substrate used for a chemical vapor deposition method (CVD method) is mentioned, A commercial item can be used.

Specific examples of the substrate 8 include a silicon substrate and a stainless steel substrate 9 on which a silicon dioxide film 10 is laminated, preferably a stainless steel substrate 9 on which a silicon dioxide film 10 is laminated. 1A to 3B show a case where the substrate 8 is a stainless steel substrate 9 on which a silicon dioxide film 10 is laminated.

Next, as shown in FIG. 1A, a catalyst layer 11 is formed on the substrate 8, preferably on the silicon dioxide film 10.

In order to form the catalyst layer 11 on the substrate 8, a metal catalyst is formed on the substrate 8 (preferably the silicon dioxide film 10) by a known film formation method.

As a metal catalyst, iron, cobalt, nickel etc. are mentioned, for example, Preferably, iron is mentioned. Such metal catalysts can be used alone or in combination of two or more.

Examples of the film forming method include vacuum evaporation and sputtering, and preferably vacuum evaporation.

As a result, the catalyst layer 11 is disposed on the substrate 8.

When the substrate 8 is the stainless steel substrate 9 on which the silicon dioxide film 10 is laminated, the silicon dioxide film 10 and the catalyst layer 11 are, for example, a silicon dioxide precursor as described in JP-A-2014-94856. The mixed solution in which the body solution and the metal catalyst precursor solution are mixed is applied to the stainless steel substrate 9, and then the mixed solution is phase-separated and then dried to be formed simultaneously.

Next, the substrate 8 on which the catalyst layer 11 is disposed is heated to, for example, 700 ° C. or more and 900 ° C. or less as shown in FIG. 1B. Thereby, the catalyst layer 11 aggregates and becomes the some granular material 11A.

Then, a source gas is supplied to the heated substrate 8 as shown in FIG. 1C.

The source gas contains a hydrocarbon gas having 1 to 4 carbon atoms (lower hydrocarbon gas).

Examples of the hydrocarbon gas having 1 to 4 carbon atoms include methane gas, ethane gas, propane gas, butane gas, ethylene gas, and acetylene gas, and preferably acetylene gas.

The source gas can also contain hydrogen gas, an inert gas (for example, helium, argon, etc.), water vapor, or the like, if necessary.

When the source gas contains hydrogen gas or inert gas, the concentration of the hydrocarbon gas in the source gas is, for example, 1% by volume or more, preferably 30% by volume or more, for example, 90% by volume or less, preferably 50% by volume. % Or less.

Thereby, a plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 grow from each of the plurality of granular bodies 11A as a starting point. In FIG. 1C, for convenience, it is described that one carbon nanotube 2 grows from one granular body 11A. However, the present invention is not limited to this, and a plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 are formed from one granular body 11A. You may grow up.

Each of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 extends in the thickness direction of the substrate 8 so as to be substantially parallel to each other on the substrate 8. That is, the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 are oriented (orientated vertically) so as to be orthogonal to the substrate 8.

As a result, a carbon nanotube aggregate 13 composed of a plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 is formed on the substrate 8.

As shown in FIG. 3A, such a carbon nanotube aggregate 13 includes a plurality of rows 13A in the vertical direction in which a plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 are linearly arranged in the horizontal direction.

In the carbon nanotube aggregate 13, the average bulk density of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 is, for example, 10 mg / cm 3 or more, preferably 20 mg / cm 3 or more, for example, 60 mg / cm 3 or less, preferably 50 mg / cm 3. It is as follows.

Next, as shown in FIGS. 1D to 2B, the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 on the substrate 8 is compressed in the lateral direction.

In order to compress the carbon nanotube aggregate 13, as shown in FIG. 1D, each of the both ends in the lateral direction of the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 is peeled off, for example, with a known adhesive tape or the like.

As a result, the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 arranged at the lateral ends of the carbon nanotube aggregates 13 are extracted from the corresponding granular bodies 11A and removed. Therefore, one exfoliation portion 11B from which the carbon nanotubes 2 are removed is formed at each of both ends in the lateral direction of the catalyst layer 11 (the plurality of granular bodies 11A). That is, the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 is sandwiched between the two peeling portions 11B in the lateral direction as viewed from the thickness direction.

The lateral dimension of the peeling portion 11B is, for example, 1% or more, preferably 5% or more, for example, 15% or less, preferably 10% or less, with respect to the lateral dimension of the carbon nanotube aggregate 13. .

Next, one pressing plate 16 is disposed on each side of the carbon nanotube aggregate 13, preferably on each of the two peeling portions 11 </ b> B, so as to sandwich the carbon nanotube aggregate 13.

Examples of the pressing plate 16 include a known metal plate, and preferably a stainless steel plate.

The thickness of the pressing plate 16 is, for example, 50% or more, preferably 70% or more, for example, 100% or less, preferably 95% or less with respect to the orientation direction dimension (thickness direction dimension) of the carbon nanotube 2. .

Specifically, the thickness of the pressing plate 16 is, for example, 0.5 μm or more, preferably 140 μm or more, for example, 1000 μm or less, preferably 380 μm or less.

Further, as shown in FIG. 3A, the vertical dimension of the pressing plate 16 is larger than the vertical dimension of the substrate 8, and the horizontal dimension of the pressing plate 16 is smaller than the horizontal dimension of the substrate 8. The surface roughness of the pressing plate 16 is preferably as small as possible.

Next, as shown in FIG. 2A, the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 is pressed against the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 from the opposite side of the substrate 8 as necessary.

In order to press the carbon nanotube aggregates 13, it is preferable that a press plate 17 of a known press device is brought into contact with the entire carbon nanotube aggregates 13 so as to make the entire carbon nanotube aggregates 13 uniform. Press. Thereby, the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 is sandwiched between the press plate 17 and the substrate 8 in the thickness direction.

The pressure applied to the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 by the press plate 17 is, for example, 5 kPa or more, preferably 10 kPa or more, for example, 150 kPa or less, preferably 80 kPa or less.

In addition, since the contact surface with the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 in the press plate 17 is in contact with the carbon nanotube aggregate 13, it is preferable that the surface roughness is small.

Next, the pressing plate 16 is moved relative to the substrate 8 to compress the carbon nanotube aggregate 13.

More specifically, in the state where the substrate 8 is fixed, one of the two pressing plates 16 is arranged so that one of the pressing plates 16 in the horizontal direction extends along the catalyst layer 11 (the plurality of granular bodies 11A). Slide towards.

Then, the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 of the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 are separated from the corresponding granular material 11A, moved toward the other side in the horizontal direction, and compressed so as to contact each other in the horizontal direction and the vertical direction.

The movement amount of the one pressing plate 16 in the lateral direction is, for example, 10% or more, preferably 30% or more, for example, 45% or less, preferably, with respect to the lateral dimension of the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 before compression. 40% or less.

Accordingly, the average density of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 is improved in one side portion of the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 in the lateral direction.

Next, as shown in FIG. 2B and FIG. 3B, with the substrate 8 fixed, the other pressing plate 16 in the lateral direction of the two pressing plates 16 extends along the catalyst layer 11 (the plurality of granular bodies 11 </ b> A). And slide toward one side in the horizontal direction.

Then, the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 are separated from the corresponding granular material 11A, moved toward one side in the horizontal direction, and compressed so as to contact each other in the horizontal direction and the vertical direction.

The amount of movement of the other pressing plate 16 in the lateral direction is the same as the amount of movement of the one pressing plate 16 in the lateral direction, and preferably from the viewpoint of uniform density of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1. This is the same as the movement amount of the pressing plate 16 in one direction.

Further, the moving speed of each of the two pressing plates 16 is not particularly limited, but is, for example, 0.1 mm / s or more, preferably 0.2 mm / s or more, for example, 3 mm / s or less, preferably 1 mm / s. s or less.

As a result, the average density of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 is improved in the other lateral portion of the carbon nanotube aggregate 13, and the compression of the entire carbon nanotube aggregate 13 is completed.

However, in the carbon nanotube aggregate 13, pinholes that do not generate the carbon nanotubes 2 are formed due to the maximization of the metal catalyst or poor wettability of the catalyst layer 11 due to local contamination of the substrate 8. There is. However, such a pinhole is filled with the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 and disappears because the entire carbon nanotube aggregate 13 is compressed in the compression step.

In the step of compressing the carbon nanotube aggregate 13, when the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 is pressed by the press plate 17, the pressure on the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 may be constant. As the nanotube aggregate 13 is compressed, the pressure on the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 is increased. Thereby, in the compression process of the carbon nanotube aggregate 13, the movement of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 in the thickness direction can be reliably regulated.

By the above, the whole carbon nanotube aggregate 13 is compressed, and the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1 is prepared.

The volume of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 is, for example, 1% or more, preferably 5% or more, more preferably 15% or more, for example, 80%, relative to the volume of the carbon nanotube assembly 13 before compression. Hereinafter, it is preferably 50% or less, more preferably 30% or less.

Next, as shown in FIG. 2C, after removing the press plate 17 and the two press plates 16, the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 is peeled from the substrate 8.

Here, the van der Waals force acting between the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 is larger than the adhesion force of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 to the substrate 8.

Therefore, in order to peel the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 from the substrate 8, the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 is pulled up away from the substrate 8.

If necessary, the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 can be pulled up from the substrate 8 after the end of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 on the substrate 8 side is cut with a cutting member (for example, a razor). .

In this way, the high-density carbon nanotube assembly 1 detached from the substrate 8 is prepared. The carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1 is used for various industrial products, for example, as a heat conductive sheet, an electrically conductive sheet, or the like.

In such a high-density assembly 1 of carbon nanotubes, as shown in FIG. 2C and FIG. 3B, a plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 oriented in the thickness direction are continuous with each other in the plane direction (longitudinal direction and lateral direction). The average density of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 arranged in a shape is 4.0 × 10 10 pieces / cm 2 or more and 8.0 × 10 11 pieces / cm 2 or less. Therefore, in the high-density aggregate 1 of carbon nanotubes, it is possible to improve the average density of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 while ensuring the orientation of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2.

Moreover, since the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1 holds the shape by the van der Waals force acting between the carbon nanotubes 2 adjacent to each other in the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2, the shape is not included in the polymer matrix. Can be held.

As a result, it is possible to improve each of the electrical conductivity and the thermal conductivity, in particular, to improve each of the electrical conductivity and the thermal conductivity in the orientation direction of the carbon nanotube 2.

Further, in the method of manufacturing the high-density carbon nanotube assembly 1, as shown in FIGS. 2A and 2B, a plurality of carbon nanotube assemblies 13 composed of a plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 oriented perpendicular to the substrate 8 are The carbon nanotubes 2 are compressed so as to come into contact with each other in a direction perpendicular to the alignment direction.

Further, in such a high-density assembly 1 of carbon nanotubes, as shown in FIG. 2C, a plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 are close to each other in a direction orthogonal to the orientation direction, and therefore, the carbon nanotubes 2 act between adjacent carbon nanotubes 2. The shape can be maintained by van der Waals force.

Therefore, the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 can be manufactured with a simple method.

Further, as shown in FIGS. 2A and 2B, the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 is pressed by the press plate 17 from the opposite side of the substrate 8 when being compressed in a direction orthogonal to the orientation direction of the carbon nanotubes 2. . Therefore, the carbon nanotubes 2 of the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 are restricted from moving in the orientation direction (thickness) when the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 is compressed.

As a result, the carbon nanotube aggregates 13 can be reliably compressed in the orthogonal direction, so that it is possible to reliably increase the density of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 in the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1.
3. Second Embodiment The method for producing a carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 preferably includes a step of heating the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 to 1800 ° C. or higher after the compression step of the carbon nanotube assembly 13. Yes.

More specifically, such a heating step is not particularly limited as long as it is after the compression step of the carbon nanotube aggregate 13, and may be before the peeling step of the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1. From the viewpoint of the heat resistance of the substrate 8, it is preferably performed after the peeling process of the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1.

In order to heat the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1, the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 is placed in a known heating furnace, for example, in an atmosphere of an inert gas (for example, nitrogen, argon, etc.) 1800 Heat to above ℃.

The heating temperature is 1800 ° C. or higher, preferably 2000 ° C. or higher, more preferably 2500 ° C. or higher, particularly preferably 2600 ° C. or higher, such as 3300 ° C. or lower, preferably 2900 ° C. or lower, more preferably 2900 ° C. Is less than. The heating time is, for example, 1 hour or more, preferably 2 hours or more, for example, 24 hours or less, preferably 15 hours or less, more preferably 4 hours or less from the viewpoint of mass productivity of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1. It is.

The energy (activation energy) E a [eV] of such a heating step is calculated by the following formula (1).

式(1):
=kTln(vt) (1)
Formula (1):
E a = k B Tln (vt) (1)
k B : Boltzmann constant (8.6 × 10 −5 [eV / K])
T: Heating temperature [K]
v: Frequency factor (10 12 [s −1 ])
t: Heating time [s]
The energy E a of the heating step is, for example, 3 eV or more, preferably 6 eV or more, more preferably 7 eV or more, particularly preferably 8 eV or more, for example, 15 eV or less, preferably 10 eV or less, more preferably 9 eV or less.

Thus, the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 is heat-treated.

In the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1 after the heat treatment, the crystallinity of the graphene constituting the carbon nanotube 2 is improved.

The crystallinity of such graphene is evaluated by the G / D ratio calculated from the Raman spectrum of Raman spectroscopic analysis.

In the Raman spectrum of the carbon nanotube, a peak called G band derived from in-plane vibration of a carbon six-membered ring is observed near 1590 cm −1 , and a peak called D band derived from defects is observed near 1350 cm −1. Observed.

The spectral intensity of the G band relative to the spectral intensity of the D band is the G / D ratio.

The G / D ratio of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 after the heat treatment is, for example, 1.5 or more, preferably 2, or more, more preferably 3 or more, particularly preferably 7 or more, for example, 14 or less, Preferably, it is 13 or less.

Note that the G / D ratio of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 before the heat treatment is, for example, 1 or more and less than 1.5.

According to such 2nd Embodiment, since the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 is heated at 1800 degreeC or more, the crystallinity of the graphene which comprises the carbon nanotube 2 can be aimed at. Therefore, it is possible to reliably improve each of the electrical conductivity and the thermal conductivity of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1.

More specifically, the electrical conductivity of the high-density carbon nanotube assembly 1 of the second embodiment is, for example, 4000 S / m or more, preferably 10,000 S / m or more, for example, 34000 S / m or less in the thickness direction. Preferably, it is 26000 S / m or less, and is 400 S / m or more, preferably 1000 S / m or more, for example, 3400 S / m or less, preferably 2600 S / m or less in the surface direction.

In addition, the thermal conductivity of the high-density carbon nanotube aggregate 1 of the second embodiment is 8 W / (m · K) or more, preferably 13 W / (m · K) or more, for example, 40 W, in the thickness direction. / (M · K) or less, preferably 35 W / (m · K) or less, and in the surface direction, 3 W / (m · K) or more, preferably 4 W / (m · K) or more, for example, 7 W / (M · K) or less, preferably 10 W / (m · K) or less.

Such a heating step can be repeated a plurality of times. When repeating the heating step a plurality of times, after heating the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 to the above heating temperature, the cooling temperature is lower than the heating temperature (for example, 2000 ° C. or lower, preferably 1000 ° C. or lower, more preferably, (Cooling step), and the heating step and the cooling step are sequentially repeated. The number of repetitions of the heat treatment step and the cooling step is, for example, 2 times or more, for example, 100 times or less, preferably 10 times or less, particularly preferably 2 times.

In addition, the second embodiment can achieve the same effects as the first embodiment.
4). Third Embodiment Further, in the step of heating the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1, preferably, before the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 is heated, the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 (compressed carbon nanotube assembly 13 ) Is impregnated with a polymer-containing liquid containing a polymer material, or amorphous carbon is adhered.

When impregnating the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1 with a polymer-containing liquid, first, a polymer-containing liquid containing a polymer material is prepared.

The polymer material is not particularly limited, and examples thereof include a thermoplastic resin and a thermosetting resin.

Examples of the thermoplastic resin include polyester (for example, polyethylene terephthalate (PET)), polyamide, polyolefin (for example, polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP)), polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinylidene chloride, poly Examples include acrylonitrile and polyurethane.

Examples of the curable resin include an epoxy resin, a silicone resin, and a thermosetting polyimide resin.

Then, a polymer-containing liquid is prepared by dissolving such a polymer material in an organic solvent so that the concentration is, for example, 5% by mass or more and 30% by mass or less.

The organic solvent is not particularly limited as long as it can dissolve the polymer material, and examples thereof include known organic solvents.

Thereafter, the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 is immersed in the polymer-containing liquid. As a result, the polymer material is attached to the surfaces of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1.

Next, when the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1 is heat-treated as described above, the polymer material attached to the surface of the carbon nanotube 2 is graphitized (graphitized). Therefore, graphite (graphite) adheres to the surface of the carbon nanotubes 2, and the electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity of the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1 can be improved more reliably.

On the other hand, when attaching amorphous carbon to the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1, the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1 is disposed in, for example, a known CVD furnace, and the above-described source gas is allowed to flow into the CVD furnace. At the same time, it is heated to 700 ° C or higher and 900 ° C or lower. In addition, heating time is 5 minutes or more and 60 minutes or less, for example.

As a result, amorphous carbon adheres to the surfaces of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1.

Next, when the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1 is heat-treated as described above, the amorphous carbon adhering to the surface of the carbon nanotube 2 is graphitized (graphitized). Therefore, graphite (graphite) adheres to the surface of the carbon nanotubes 2, and the electrical conductivity and thermal conductivity of the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1 can be improved more reliably.

More specifically, the electrical conductivity of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 of the third embodiment is, for example, 8000 S / m or more, preferably 20000 S / m or more, for example, 68000 S / m or less, in the thickness direction. Preferably, it is 52000 S / m or less, and in the surface direction, it is 800 S / m or more, preferably 2000 S / m or more, for example, 6800 S / m or less, preferably 5200 S / m or less.

Further, the thermal conductivity of the high-density carbon nanotube aggregate 1 of the third embodiment is, for example, 16 W / (m · K) or more, preferably 26 W / (m · K) or more, for example, 80 W in the thickness direction. / (M · K) or less, preferably 70 W / (m · K) or less, and in the surface direction, 6 W / (m · K) or more, preferably 8 W / (m · K) or more, for example, 14 W / (M · K) or less, preferably 20 W / (m · K) or less.

In addition, the third embodiment can provide the same operational effects as those of the first and second embodiments.
5). Fourth Embodiment In addition, the method for producing the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 preferably includes a step of supplying a liquid to the carbon nanotube assembly 13 (carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1) after the compression step. Contains (liquid processing step).

Thereby, the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 is subjected to liquid treatment.

When the liquid is supplied to the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1, the liquid is vaporized, so that the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 aggregate with each other while maintaining the orientation, and the density of the carbon nanotube high-density assembly 1 is further increased. improves.

In addition, it can also implement combining said heating process and a liquid processing process. That is, after performing a heating process, you may implement a liquid processing process, and after implementing a liquid processing process, you may implement a heating process.
6). In the first to fourth embodiments, as shown in FIGS. 2A and 2B, the two pressing plates 16 are moved one by one, but the two pressing plates 16 are simultaneously moved inward in the lateral direction. You may move it. However, when the two pressing plates 16 are moved simultaneously, the aggregate of carbon nanotubes 13 is compressed all at once, so that the orientation of the carbon nanotubes 2 may not be sufficiently secured. Therefore, it is preferable to move the two pressing plates 16 one by one as in the first to third embodiments.

In the first embodiment to the fourth embodiment, the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 is compressed in the horizontal direction, but the compression direction is not limited to this, and the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 may be compressed in the vertical direction. In the first to fourth embodiments, the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 is compressed by fixing the substrate 8 and moving the pressing plate 16. However, the pressing plate 16 is fixed and the substrate 8 is moved. By doing so, the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 may be compressed.

In addition, the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 can be compressed only from one side (or the other) in the lateral direction. From the viewpoint of uniforming the average density of the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1, the carbon nanotube aggregate 13 is It is preferable to compress from both sides in the lateral direction.

The carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1 is prepared by being compressed so that the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 are in contact with each other. In the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate 1, most of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 are included. As long as these carbon nanotubes 2 are in contact with each other, some of the carbon nanotubes 2 may be arranged with a slight gap therebetween. More specifically, when the whole of the plurality of carbon nanotubes 2 is 100%, for example, 90% or more, preferably 95% or more, more preferably 98% or more, for example, 100% or less, preferably 100%. Less than carbon nanotubes 2 are in contact with each other.

Moreover, also by such a modification, there can exist an effect similar to 1st Embodiment-4th Embodiment.

These 1st Embodiment-4th Embodiment and a modification can be combined suitably.

Example 1
After a silicon dioxide film was laminated on the entire stainless steel substrate, iron was deposited as a catalyst layer on the silicon dioxide film. The substrate had a substantially rectangular shape in plan view, the vertical dimension was 3 cm, the horizontal dimension was 12 cm, and the thickness was 50 μm.

Next, the substrate was heated to a predetermined temperature, and a source gas (acetylene gas 1% by volume) was supplied to the catalyst layer. As a result, a carbon nanotube aggregate having a substantially rectangular shape in plan view was formed on the substrate. In the aggregate of carbon nanotubes, the plurality of carbon nanotubes extend so as to be substantially parallel to each other and are oriented (vertically oriented) so as to be orthogonal to the substrate.

The average outer diameter of the carbon nanotubes was about 12 nm, and the average length of the carbon nanotubes was about 200 μm.

Further, the average bulk density of the plurality of carbon nanotubes in the aggregate of carbon nanotubes is about 40 mg / cm 3 , and the number (density) per area of the plurality of carbon nanotubes is 3.0 × 10 10 pieces / cm 2. Met.

Next, each of both ends in the lateral direction of the carbon nanotube aggregate was peeled off by 1 cm with an adhesive tape.

And the stainless steel thin plate (pressing plate) was arrange | positioned 1 sheet | seat at a time on the both sides of a horizontal direction with respect to a carbon nanotube aggregate so that a carbon nanotube aggregate might be pinched | interposed. The thin plate had a thickness of 180 μm.

Next, a pressure of about 15 kPa was applied to the entire aggregate of carbon nanotubes from the opposite side of the substrate by a known press machine. Then, with the pressure applied to the carbon nanotube aggregate, one of the two thin plates is moved 4 cm toward the inner side in the lateral direction of the carbon nanotube aggregate at a speed of 0.4 mm / s. After that, the other thin plate was moved 4 cm at a speed of 0.4 mm / s toward the inside of the carbon nanotube aggregate in the lateral direction. At this time, the pressure by a known press gradually increased from about 15 kPa to about 50 kPa as the carbon nanotube aggregate was compressed by the thin plate.

Thereby, the carbon nanotube aggregate was compressed. Thereafter, the compressed carbon nanotube aggregate was removed from the substrate except for the press machine and the two thin plates.

Thus, a sheet-like (film-like) carbon nanotube high-density assembly was obtained.

The average bulk density of the plurality of carbon nanotubes in the high-density aggregate of carbon nanotubes is about 200 mg / cm 3 , and the average number (average density) per area of the plurality of carbon nanotubes is 1.5 × 10 11 / cm 2 .

As a result, amorphous carbon was adhered to the carbon nanotubes of the high-density aggregate of carbon nanotubes.

Next, the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate was placed in a known heating furnace and heat-treated at 1800 ° C. for 6 hours under an inert atmosphere.

The activation energy was calculated by the above formula (1) and was 6.7 eV.

As described above, a high-density assembly of carbon nanotubes in which graphite was attached to the carbon nanotubes was obtained.

The average bulk density of the plurality of carbon nanotubes in the high-density assembly of carbon nanotubes was about 125 mg / cm 3 . The heat conductivity in the thickness direction of the high-density aggregate of carbon nanotubes (before liquid treatment) was 25 W / (m · K).

Next, the carbon nanotube high-density aggregate was immersed in water at room temperature (25 ° C.) for 10 minutes (liquid supply step). Thereafter, the high-density aggregate of carbon nanotubes was pulled up from water and naturally dried.
