基材と、当該基材上に配置された下層触媒層と、当該下層触媒層上に配置された上層触媒層とを含み、
当該下層触媒層が、上流触媒層と下流触媒層とを含み、当該上流触媒層が、排気ガスの流れ方向において、当該下流触媒層の上流側に位置し、
当該上流触媒層が、第1の担体と、当該第1の担体に担持された白金及び/又はパラジウムと、第1のOSC材料とを含み、
当該下流触媒層が、第2の担体と、当該第2の担体に担持されたバナジウム、ニオブ及びタンタルからなる群から選択される少なくとも1種(特にバナジウム)と、第2のOSC材料とを含み、
当該上層触媒層が、第3の担体と、当該第3の担体に担持されたロジウムと、第3のOSC材料とを含む、排気ガス浄化用触媒を挙げることができる。本実施形態において、上流触媒層が触媒金属として白金及び/又はパラジウムのみを含み、下流触媒層が触媒金属としてバナジウム、ニオブ及びタンタルからなる群から選択される少なくとも1種(特にバナジウム)のみを含み、上層触媒層が触媒金属としてロジウムのみを含むことが好ましい。本実施形態において、第1〜3の担体はそれぞれ同じ種類の担体であってもよいし、異なる種類の担体であってもよい。また、第1〜3のOSC材料はそれぞれ同じ種類のOSC材料であってもよいし、異なる種類のOSC材料であってもよい。
[実施例1]
(1)硝酸白金溶液、セリウム−ジルコニウム複合酸化物[OSC材料](Ce2O比率:30%)、アルミナ、及びアルミナバインダーを混合し、上流触媒層用スラリー[1−1]を得た。
実施例1におけるV2O5の量を様々に変更した以外は、実施例1と同様に排気ガス浄化用触媒を得た。
実施例1における下流触媒層中のOSC材料の量を様々に変更した以外は、実施例1と同様に排気ガス浄化用触媒を得た。
実施例1における上流触媒層と下流触媒層との長さの比率を様々に変更した以外は、実施例1と同様に排気ガス浄化用触媒を得た。
各実施例及び比較例で製造した排気ガス浄化用触媒を、排気量4.3Lのエンジンにて触媒床温950℃で50時間耐久試験を行った。その後、当該触媒を排気量2.2Lのエンジンを有する実機車両に搭載し、LA#4モードで走行して、THC(全炭化水素)、CH4、及びNOxの排出量を測定した。結果を表1及び図6〜8に示す。
Claims (5)
- 基材と、当該基材上に配置された触媒層とを含み、
当該触媒層がバナジウム、ニオブ及びタンタルからなる群から選択される少なくとも1種と、白金及び/又はパラジウムとを含む、排気ガス浄化用触媒。 - 前記触媒層が上流触媒層と下流触媒層とを含む下層触媒層を含み、
当該上流触媒層が、排気ガスの流れ方向において、当該下流触媒層の上流側に位置し、
当該上流触媒層が前記白金及び/又はパラジウムを含み、
当該下流触媒層が前記バナジウム、ニオブ及びタンタルからなる群から選択される少なくとも1種を含む、請求項1に記載の排気ガス浄化用触媒。 - 前記触媒層が前記下層触媒層上に配置された上層触媒層を更に含み、
当該上層触媒層がロジウムを含む、請求項2に記載の排気ガス浄化用触媒。 - 前記触媒層がロジウムを更に含む、請求項1に記載の排気ガス浄化用触媒。
- 前記触媒層が前記基材上に配置された下層触媒層と、当該下層触媒層上に配置された上層触媒層とを含み、
当該下層触媒層が前記バナジウム、ニオブ及びタンタルからなる群から選択される少なくとも1種と、前記白金及び/又はパラジウムとを含み、
当該上層触媒層が前記ロジウムを含む、請求項4に記載の排気ガス浄化用触媒。
