Description

The present invention relates to a low flame spread cigarette that is difficult to spread from a fire type to surrounding objects so that an ignited cigarette hardly causes a fire due to carelessness of a smoker.

When cigarettes fall on the floor etc. due to carelessness of smokers, a self-extinguishing property is provided by providing a band made of cellulose paper with a width of 2 to 20 mm on the cigarette paper so that it is difficult to spread from the fire type to the floor etc. Cigarettes (see Japanese Laid-Open Patent Publication No. 63-85200), cigarettes (see Japanese Laid-Open Patent Publication No. 7-300795) and the like provided with a band obtained by applying a flame retardant material to a cigarette paper have been proposed. In addition, cigarette paper with non-combustible material is also known. These technologies are based on the knowledge that cigarettes disappear in areas with low flammability, although normal smoking can be performed in areas with high flammability by providing areas with high flammability and areas with low flammability. Based.
In addition, it has been well known that a cigarette that can be easily extinguished can be provided by reducing the burning rate of the cigarette for the purpose of reducing the amount of sidestream smoke per hour. As such a cigarette, there has been proposed a cigarette in which cigarette wrapping paper having a small amount of filler is used as an inner wrapping paper and a normal cigarette wrapping paper is used as an outer wrapping paper so that cigarettes are wrapped around them (see Japanese Patent No. 2572488). Further, as a low sidestream smoke cigarette, a cigarette in which a smoking material rod having a filling density of 100 to 260 mg / cm 3 is wound with a wrapping paper having an air permeability of 7 cores or less has been proposed (Japanese Patent No. 3001582). See the official gazette). Further, a cigarette having a low air permeability (7 coresta units), a low filler amount and a low basis weight is used to reduce the burning rate (see International Publication WO 01/48316).
However, when using a wrapping paper in which a non-combustible region is present, non-combustible combustion occurs at the time of smoking in that there are a portion that is difficult to burn and a portion that is easy to burn, and the taste is not constant. In addition, the method of reducing the burning rate to achieve low fire spread has been aimed at achieving its purpose by lowering the air permeability of the wrapping paper, so the ventilation effect from the wrapping paper is reduced, and the monoxide in the mainstream smoke is reduced. The amount of carbon (CO) increases and the carbon monoxide / tar ratio (C / T ratio) increases. Furthermore, lowering the air permeability of the wrapping paper causes a change in the taste of the cigarette, and there is a problem that a normal smoker feels uncomfortable.
On the other hand, cigarettes using wrapping paper with a small blending ratio of filler are empirically known to disappear during the course of spontaneous combustion, although the burning rate is known to decrease. Could not be reduced too much.
Therefore, the present invention can perform a smoking operation similar to that of a normal cigarette, the burning rate is almost the same as that of a normal cigarette, and the C / T ratio in the mainstream smoke is improved, and low flame spread can be exhibited. The purpose is to provide cigarettes.

In the process of researching low-fire-spreading cigarettes, the present inventors wound cigarette filler rods on cigarettes composed of cigarette fillers and cigarette wrapping paper without using special bands or flame retardant materials. It has been found that a cigarette capable of achieving the above object can be produced simply by setting specific air permeability of the cigarette wrapping paper and the amount of filler blended in the wrapping paper to specific values. By setting the inherent air permeability of the cigarette wrapping paper within a predetermined range, the amount of filler can be reduced as much as possible within the range where natural combustion is maintained. The present invention is based on these findings.
That is, according to the present invention, it comprises a cigarette filler rod and a cigarette wrap around which the rod is wound and which contains pulp and filler, and the wrapping paper exceeds 20 coresta units and has an intrinsic air permeability of 80 coresta or less. And a cigarette containing the filler at a rate of 1.0 to 5.0 g / m 2 is provided.
The cigarette of the present invention continues spontaneous combustion, and when the cigarette is left to stand on the substrate after being spontaneously combusted for a certain distance, the carbonized wire of the cigarette wrapping paper follows the cigarette axial direction until the cigarette stops burning. It may exhibit low fire spreadability such that the median value of the moving distance is 8 mm or less.
According to one preferred aspect of the present invention, it includes a tobacco filler rod and a cigarette wrapping paper around which the rod is wound, the wrapping paper having an intrinsic air permeability of more than 20 coresta units and 80 coresta or less, and a filler. In a proportion of 1.4 to 3.7 g / m 2 and a combustion regulator in a proportion of 0 to 0.6% by weight, and the tobacco filler has a packing density of 130 to 230 mg / cm 3. A filled cigarette is provided.

Figure 2004091325
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in more detail.
The cigarette of the present invention includes a tobacco filler rod and a cigarette wrapping paper around which the tobacco filler rod is wound. The cigarette of the present invention has the same appearance and shape as a normal cigarette.
The tobacco filler rod used in the cigarette of the present invention is formed of a normal tobacco cut or the like. Tobacco cuts can contain expanded tobacco, regenerated tobacco, and midbones. The filling density of the tobacco filler rod is preferably 130 to 260 mg / cm 3 . If this filling density deviates from this range, the fire spreadability may not be sufficiently lowered even when the cigarette paper of the present invention is wound. Packing density of the tobacco filler, more preferably 130~230mg / cm 3, further preferably 140~230mg / cm 3. Further, the step size of the tobacco step is usually the width of the tobacco step used normally, but from the viewpoint of low fire spread, a relatively large step size of 0.5 to 1.5 mm is preferable, 0.8 to A step size of 1.2 mm is more preferable.
The cigarette paper used in the present invention is based on pulp such as ordinary flax pulp which is usually used as a constituent of cigarette paper and therefore contains pulp. The intrinsic air permeability of the cigarette paper used in the present invention (ordinary air permeability when not perforated) exceeds 20 coresta units (CU) and is 80 coresta units or less. When the inherent air permeability of the cigarette paper is 20 cores or less, the C / T ratio in cigarette mainstream smoke generated during smoking increases. When the inherent air permeability of the cigarette paper exceeds 80 coresta units, the air permeability varies greatly. The intrinsic air permeability of the cigarette paper is more than 20 coresta units, preferably 60 coresta units or less, and more preferably 25 to 55 coresta units. The cigarette wrapping paper can be mechanically or electrically perforated by a normal method. There is no particular limitation on the air permeability of the wrapping paper having such openings.
The cigarette paper of the present invention contains a filler. As the filler, commonly used ones such as carbonates such as calcium carbonate and potassium carbonate, and hydroxides such as calcium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide can be used. The amount of filler in the cigarette paper is 1.0 to 5.0 g / m 2 . When the amount of the filler is less than 1.0 g / m 2 , the cigarette disappears during spontaneous combustion, and when the amount of the filler exceeds 5.0 g / m 2 , low fire spreadability is not achieved. The amount of filler is preferably 1.4~3.7g / m 2, and more preferably 1.6~3.3g / m 2. Moreover, it is preferable that the ratio of the filler in a cigarette paper is 6-25 weight%, It is more preferable that it is 7-21 weight%, It is further more preferable that it is 8-17 weight%.
The basis weight of the cigarette paper is preferably 17 to 28 g / m 2 . If the basis weight is less than 17 g / m 2 , stable wrapping paper production becomes difficult, and if it exceeds 28 g / m 2 , the fire spreadability tends to increase. The basis weight of the wrapping paper, more preferably 18-25 g / m 2, and more preferably 18-22 g / m 2.
The cigarette paper may be added with a combustion regulator such as citric acid or a salt thereof (sodium salt, potassium salt), but the content is preferably 0 to 1.0% by weight. When the amount of the combustion modifier exceeds 1.0% by weight, the C / T ratio tends to increase. The amount of the combustion regulator is more preferably 0 to 0.6% by weight, and further preferably 0.1 to 0.6% by weight.
The cigarette wrapping paper of the present invention has a tensile strength of 10 to 20 N / 15 mm or more, so that it can be produced without any problem even if it is subjected to a high-speed cigarette production machine that produces cigarettes at 8000 to 12000 pieces / min. . The tensile strength can be adjusted by adjusting the beating degree or pulp amount of pulp used for cigarette paper. The higher the degree of beating of the pulp and the higher the amount of pulp per wrapping paper area, the higher the tensile strength.
In the present invention, by setting the specific air permeability of the cigarette wrapping paper and the ratio of the filler contained in the cigarette wrapping paper within the above range, the fire spreadability is low despite the relatively high specific air permeability of the cigarette wrapping paper, Cigarettes that generate mainstream smoke with a low C / T ratio are obtained. Moreover, the cigarette of this invention can show a burning rate substantially the same as a normal product. The low fire spreadability of the cigarette of the present invention is such that when the cigarette is naturally burned for a certain distance and then left on the substrate (10 sheets of filter paper) (measured according to the ASTM E2187-02b method), the cigarette stops burning. The median value of the distance that the carbonized wire of the cigarette paper moves along the cigarette axial direction is 8 mm or less, preferably 4 mm or less. And in the several cigarette of this invention, the mode value of the said movement distance may be 8 mm or less, Preferably it is 4 mm or less.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described by way of examples, but the present invention is not limited thereto.
Examples and Comparative Examples Forty cigarettes were produced by winding cigarette cuts with the flax pulp cigarette wrapping paper having the specifications shown in Table 1 so that the cigarette cut packing density shown in Table 1 was achieved. Calcium carbonate was used as a filler, and sodium citrate was used as a combustion regulator. Moreover, as the tobacco step, yellow seed step or blend step was used. Table 1 shows the inherent air permeability and tensile strength of the cigarette paper. In addition, the tensile strength shown in Table 1 was measured by a technique shown in Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) P 8113-1998 using a tensile strength tester STROGRAPHE-S manufactured by Toyo Seiki Co., Ltd. (size of test piece: 15.0 mm X about 250 mm, distance between grips: 180 ± 2 mm, pulling speed: 50 mm / min).
About the produced cigarette, the natural burning rate was measured by the conventional method, and the full length burning rate (percent full length burn) on 10 filter papers was measured according to ASTM E2187-02b method. Further, when the ignited cigarette was placed on the filter paper, the median value of the distance that the carbonized wire of the cigarette paper moved along the cigarette axis direction before the cigarette stopped burning (disappeared) was measured. The results are shown in Table 2.
Moreover, the amount of total particulate matter (TPM), the amount of carbon monoxide and the amount of tar in the mainstream smoke generated when each cigarette was burned was measured by a conventional method, and the C / T value was calculated. The number of puffs was also measured. The results are shown in Table 3.
Figure 2004091325
Figure 2004091325
Figure 2004091325
As is clear from the results shown in Tables 2 and 3, cigarettes produced using the wrapping paper and tobacco filler defined in the present invention exhibit excellent low fire spread and low C / T values.
As described above, according to the present invention, a cigarette that can perform a smoking operation similar to that of a normal cigarette, has almost no change in combustion speed, exhibits low fire spreadability, and has a low C / T ratio in the generated mainstream smoke.
