Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the concentration, adsorption and desorption of a sample and to make an apparatus small in size, by providing a main body of a cartridge, a cooling metal element, a main body of a sampling unit, etc. CONSTITUTION:A cooling element 5 made of metal and covered with a sponge 2 containing acetone is incorporated in a main body 1 of a cartridge, and it is provided with a stopper for preventing the volatilization of an organic solvent. When a volatile component is taken as a sample from the skin 6, the cartridge is put in a main body 5 of a sampling unit and fixed on the skin 6. Thereafter the stopper 4 is removed and a power source 7 is operated to facilitate the volatilization from the skin 6 by heating by a heater 8 and by sucking by a pump 9 through a hose 10. Moreover, the volatile component produced from the surface of the skin 6 is liquefied by the heat of vaporization of the organic solvent in the cooling element 3. After the sample is taken, two outlets of the sample of the main body 1 are sealed hermetically by melting them down by heating or any other means, the cartridge is removed from the sampling unit, and thus the sample can be kept in a stable state until analysis is executed. In this way, the concentration, adsorption and desorption of the sample are enabled, and an apparatus can be made small in size.
