Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of flow alignment at the time of injection of a liquid crystal by providing a non-diffraction grating having the grating height of a diffraction grating to a region except the diffraction grating and an injection groove to a part of the non-diffraction grating and subjecting the liquid crystal in the injection groove to a hybrid orientation. CONSTITUTION:The non-diffraction grating 14 is formed of the member having approximately the same height at the grating height of the diffraction grating 15 and is formed in the region except the diffraction grating region. The injection groove 14a is formed in a part of the non-diffraction grating region and the liquid crystal is injected into the grating grooves of the diffraction grating 15. A perpendicularly oriented film is formed on one transparent electrode 13 surface which is the bottom of the injection groove 14a and a horizontally oriented film is formed on a transparent electrode 13 surface side which is the bottom of the injection groove 14a and faces the above-mentioned surface. These films are subjected to a rubbing treatment so that the liquid crystal in the injection groove 14a is hybrid-oriented. The flow alignment generated at the time of the injection is thereby prevented and the degradation in the display grade is obviated.
