Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure the position and attitude of a signal recorded on a medium at a high accuracy, by providing an image processing section to pick up an image of a recording signal taken with an image sensor several times as multilevel image for addition or subtraction. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic transfer plate 2 is brought in close contact with a magnetic recording medium 1 as object to be measured to transfer the state of magnetization of a signal recorded on the medium 1. In an optical system 3, light from a light source 3b is linearly polarized with a polarizer 3c to be incident into the transfer plate 2 via a half mirror 3d and an objective lens 3e. The reflected light from the transfer plate 2 turns in the polarization plane and is transmitted through an analyzer 3f to be taken with a TV camera 3a. An image brought into the camera 3a is inputted into an image processing section 4 and image data taken in several times are processed for addition and subtraction to remove noise of an image taken with the camera 3a. The image data processed undergoes a computation processing with a computer 5 thereby enabling highly accurate measurement of the position and attitude of a signal on the medium.
