PURPOSE:To improve the gripping property and road surface following property of a tire by making a belt material of a reed screen-like mixed woven cloth woven with at least one type of various fiber cords and a steel cord alternatively disposed. CONSTITUTION:For a belt material of a pneumatic radial tire is used a reed-like cloth woven by a steel cord A and other types of fiber cords B different in type from the steel cord, both cords being disposed alternately. For other types of fiber cords B at least one type of cord selected from a nylon cord, polyester fiber cord and ardmide fiber cord is used. Thus, the gripping performance and road surface holding performance which are defects of the cloth are prevented from degradation without damaging excellent performance of steel cord as belt material, while the tackiness is improved.
