Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve sealing ability and durability of a laminated metal gasket by forming beads on both side substrates of an intermediate component of the metal gasket, and setting a bead height of one substrate to be higher than that of the other. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate plate 10 is provided between two substrates 4, 6 composed of elastic metal plate. Beads 18, 20 are formed in an area which surrounds combustion chamber ports of the substrates 4, 6. The bead height H2 of the substrate 6 is set to be higher than the bead height H1 of the substrate 4. It is thus possible to compensate gaps between deck surfaces generated around the combustion chambers, to prevent functional deterioration of the beads, to make the spring force of the substrates of the beads uniform, and thereby to improve the sealing ability and durability thereof.
