Abstract

PURPOSE: To stabilize a discharge starting voltage by making one-sided ends of paired flat plate electrodes of different heights face each other and juxtaposing a needlelike electrode on the higher electrode and disposing one end of the needlelike electrode to face that of the lower electrode nearly in parallel with each other.
CONSTITUTION: Flat plate electrodes 1 and 2 different in their heights are formed so that the electrode 2 is relatively located more highly than the electrode 1. A needlelike electrode 3 is juxtaposed on the higher electrode 2 and its one end 3a is protruded to the side of the lower electrode 1 and to face the lower electrode 1 nearly in parallel with a gap G in between. Since discharge is generated at a tip part of the one end 3a of the needlelike electrode 3 disposed nearly in parallel to the lower electrode 1, a discharge starting voltage can be kept constant without the discharge gap G being varied even if this discharge allows abrasion of the tip part of the needle to proceed a little.
