Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the yield of manufacturing, by providing a redundancy circuit on a shift register. CONSTITUTION:Equivalent spare stages STa-STc are provided at every stages ST1-ST3 of the shift register 4 as redundancy circuit. When the stage ST2 is defective, the output OUT of the stage ST2 is interrupted and simultaneously, the input IN of the spare STb and the output OUT of the stage ST1 are connected by a connection 21. On the other hand, when the output OUT of the spare stage STb and the input IN of the stage ST3 are connected by a connection 22 and the interval between the output of the stage ST2 and an OR gate is interrupted the output of an identical conversion element can be obtained. Thus the defective part can be freely substituted by the redundancy circuit, the whole function can be maintained by this substitution processing and the manufacture of the defective product can be reduced to the minimum.
