PURPOSE:To make the cylinder in the caption compact and extend its service life by arranging an exhaust valve and an intake valve concentric with from the wall-center of a cylinder head through an intake passage in the cylinder and also arranging a spark plug in the center of the intake valve. CONSTITUTION:A center guide longitudinal hole 1c is bored in a cylinder head 1b and a supporting guide pipe 3a having an exhaust valve 3 fixed at its lower end is arranged to pass through the center guide longitudinal hole 1c. The supporting guide pipe 3a is moved vertically by a cam 4 against a coil spring 3b and at the same time the opening 1e of an exhaust passage 1d is opened and closed by the exhaust valve 3. In the supporting guide pipe 3a, a supporting guide pipe 6a having an intake valve 6a fixed on its lower end is arranged to pass through an intake passage 5. The supporting guide pipe 6a is moved vertically against a coil spring 6b by a cam 7 whose phase is different from that of the cam 6 by 90 deg. and at the same time the intake passage 5 is opened and closed by the intake valve 6.
