Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent generation of an excessive rush current by selecting the value of a resistance to be connected in series with each coil at the time of a transient delta connection so that the ratio of a torque directly after switching to said transient delta connection to a torque at the time of a delta connection is included in the value from 1/2 to 3/4. CONSTITUTION:First, coils 1A-1C with each phase are started in a state where they are connected in a star. Next, resistances 2A-2C are connected in parallel with respective coils. Then, said resistances 2A-2C are connected in series with respective coils to form a transient delta connection state. Subsequently, the resistances 2A-2C are short-circuited and respective coils are connected in a delta. In this case, the values of the resistances 2A-2C are selected so that the ratio of a torque directly after switching to the transient delta connection to a torque directly after switching to the delta connection is between 1/2 and 3/4.
