Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain symmetrical recording marks at the record starting part and the record completing part by irradiating laser light with high energy density for the starting part of the recording mark and with low density for the completing part at the time of forming of a recording mark. CONSTITUTION:The output waveform of a semiconductor laser, which is inputted to an optical disk and whose intensity is modulated, is indicated in a figure (a), the changing condition of the reached temperature of a recording material at the time of the irradiation of the light is indicated in a figure (b), and the condition of the recording mark actually formed on the recording material is indicated in a figure (c). When the recording mark is formed, the energy of the irradiated light is gradually decreased in accordance with progress from the record starting part to the record completing part. For that method, plural pulses for recording are constituted so that the pulse width of the top pule may be wider than those of succeeding pulses. Thus, the obtained recording marks are symmetrical at the to part and at the terminal part.
