Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as an intermediate for agricultural chemicals, medicines, etc., at a low temperature under a low pressure in high yield, by reacting vinyl chloride with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a rhodium compound and a trivalent organic phosphorus compound coexisting with a guanidine compound.
CONSTITUTION: Vinyl chloride is reacted with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a rhodium compound (preferably containing no halogen) and a trivalent organic phosphorus compound (e.g. phosphines or phosphites) or oxide thereof coexisting with a guanidine compound or a weak acid salt thereof at 10W150°C, preferably 20W80°C temperature under 10W300kg/cm2G, preferably 30W150kg/cm2G pressure to afford 2-chloropropionaldehyde.
