Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable favorable images to be obtained even when the quantity of an ink sheet wound around a reel is increased, by exerting a rotational load on a platen. CONSTITUTION:A timing pulley 74 fitted to the end face of a platen shaft 42a is braked in rotation, by the functions of a felt 74a and a spring 77 energizing the felt 74a to the side of a bearing 72, so that a platen 42 constantly receives a load in the direction for inhibiting the rotation thereof. Therefore, even when a tension is applied to a recording paper making close contact with an ink sheet 31 at a position where a thermal head and the platen face each other as the ink sheet 31 is taken up, the load prevents the paper from being fed out needlessly. Thus, favorable recorded images can be constantly obtained, and it is possible to increase the winding quantity of the ink sheet.
