Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the number of parts and the size of a rotary actuator, by stopping rotation of a rotary shaft mechanically at a predetermined angle through a mechanical rotation limiting means and detecting rotary angle through a position detector. CONSTITUTION:A rotary actuator comprises a housing body 11 and a shaft body housing 12, and an output shaft 13 is borne by bearings 14a, 14b. A stator 20 is arranged on the body 13 and constructed with a resilient ring body 21 for forming resilient traveling wave through a piezoelectric member 22. An annular pressure contact section 21a for producing resilient traveling wave combined of lateral and longitudinal waves is formed along the outer circumference of the resilient body 21. A rotor 30 comprises a rotary board 31 having an annular frictional section 31a facing with the pressure contact section 21a and pressure contacting therewith, a vibration isolating rubber 32, an elastic board member 33, a pressing member 34 and a snap ring 35. A permanent magnet 41 is secured to the rotary board 31 while a hole IC 42 is arranged on the housing body 31 and a projection 13a is provided on the output shaft 13, thus carrying out mechanical regulation of rotation through a fitting hole section 12a.
