Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize desired correction in accordance with a display device, with a simple structure and at low cost, and to obtain sensuously natural image by connecting a suitable resistor between a means for supplying a reference voltage to a full parallel type A/D converter and the reference voltage terminal of the A/D converter. CONSTITUTION: A suitable resistor R1 -R6 is connected between a means 102 for supplying a reference voltage to a full parallel type analog/digital converter 101 (A/D converter) and the reference voltage terminal of such A/D converter 101, thereby setting at unequal spaces apart a reference voltage imparted to the sampling comparator in the A/D converter 101. Therefore, a gradation pulse can be generated which stipulates, at unequal spaces apart, i.e., nonlinearly, the gradation of luminance information in an input image signal. The gradation pulse GP is inputted in a column electrode driving circuit 104, converted into a digital luminance modulation signal D, and then transmitted to a column electrode 106. As a result, the image display is realized in which the luminance information of the image signal is modulated nonlinearly, so that a sensuously natural image can be obtained.
