Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a compound oxide based superconducting material having the especially high superconducting critical temperature, by blending oxides or carbonates of respective one or more of group IIa, IIIa and IbWIIIb elements and sintering the resultant blend powder on a support of Pt.
CONSTITUTION: A compound containing A and D, compound containing B and D and compound containing C and D are blended to prepare a raw material powder. The above-mentioned respective compounds can be converted into respective oxides or carbonates of A, B and B. The aforementioned raw material powder, as necessary, is previously sintered or fired, then pulverized, pressed into a desired shape, subsequently placed on a Pt plate and sintered in the air. Thereby the aimed compound oxide based superconducting material having the high TC can be more stably produced. That is a sintered compact in a thin form is readily obtained by the method according to this invention, since the pressed compact is not adhered to the support without exerting any influence especially on the sintered compact in the thin form. Thereby the sintering of the superconducting material in the form of, e.g. wiry material or sheet, having the widest practical uses can be carried out.
