Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the looseness of bound iron wire by performing a stepwise fastening of iron wire wound around the article to be bound to impart a greater fastening force to the iron wire, while moving the same along the surface of the article. CONSTITUTION:An iron wire 40 fed by a wire feeder 30 passes through a wire guide 31, surrounding the article to be bundled from a twisting head 1 and along an iron wire guide groove 3' of a guide ring 2 and its forward end enters into a side hole of the twisting head 1 to be clamped thereby. The drum of a wire feeder 30' then reversely rotates to tie the iron wire 40 formed into an annular shape. An operating cylinder 20 of a supporting arm 11 is actuated to rotatably move a first auxiliary wire receiving roller 10-1 to a position (a) adjacent a second auxiliary wire receiving roller 10-2. A cam 26 actuates a secondary arm 13 to move the roller 10-1 away from a wire reception and support position, thereby shifting the iron wire 40 to the second auxiliary wire receiving roller 10-2. The iron wire is likewise shifted to a third auxiliary wire receiving roller 10-3 and then to a fourth auxiliary wire receiving roller 10'. Upon completion of such wire winding around the article, the twisting head 1 cuts and twists the iron wire to finally tie the article.
