Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title fiber with high light-resisting stability, transparency and reduced problems in the manufacturing process, by adding an organic acid and an ultraviolet absorber to an acrylic polymer containing a chlorine- containing copolymerization component. CONSTITUTION:(A) An acrylonitrile copolymer containing a chlorine-containing monomer so that the chlorine content becomes 20-37wt.% is mixed with (B) 0.1-0.7wt.% of an organic acid, preferably citric acid and (C) 0.05-0.5wt.% of an ultraviolet absorber, suitably as benzotriazole stabilizer to prepare a solution of component A. The solution is used as a spinning dope to effect wet-spinning and drawing to give the objective fiber. The component A is preferably an acrylonitrile copolymer for modacryl fibers containing 30-50wt.% of vinylidene chloride.
