CONSTITUTION:Recording and erasion use optical systems 1-3 and reproduction use optical systems 11-13, using laser beams of each different wavelength are provided separately. Also, both a P polarization transmissivity and an S polarization reflection factor of a polarization beam splitter 3 of the recording and erasion use optical systems 1-3 are set to about 100%. As for a separation use polarization beam splitter 13 of an incident light and a reflected light of the reproduction use optical systems 11-13, its S polarization reflection factor is set to 100%, and its P polarization reflection factor is also set to an optimum value, irrespective of the P polarization transmissivity of the recording and erasion use optical system. In such a way, with regard to not only the transfer efficiency of the erasion use optical power, but also the feedback transfer efficiency to a detecting optical system of a reproducing signal, those which have a sufficient value are obtained.
