Abstract
PURPOSE:To facilitate the separation of a base film from an ink ribbon and to enhance the operability of a printing apparatus, by providing a separation member for separating a printing ribbon from the base film after printing is performed on a printing medium. CONSTITUTION:A half cut separation part 23 deeper than a conventional one is formed to a base film 22 and filled with a thermoplastic resin 35. When a printing apparatus is operated, the heat generating element 26 of a thermal head is operated and the ink of the ink ribbon 21 of a printing ribbon 24 is transferred to the base film 22. In this case, a heat generating element 37 generates heat continuously to heat the part corresponding to the half cut separation part 23 of the base film 22 and the thermoplastic resin 35 allowed to fill the half cut separation part 23 is melted under heating. Therefore, when the printing ribbon 24 passes a separator 27 immediately after printing, the printed base film 22' and both ends 28 thereof are separated from the half cut separation part 23.
