Abstract
PURPOSE:To enlarge a critical magnetic field of a wire and to realize a microstructure wire by a method wherein a conducting wire is a laminate of superconducting layers and normal conducting layers. CONSTITUTION:An insulating film 2 is provided on a substrate 1, a laminate structure 6 of thin superconducting layers 4A and normal conducting layers 5 is constructed on the insulating film 2, forming a superconducting wire 3A. In a laminate structure 6 wherein, for example, 0.05mum-thick normal conducting layers 5 are sandwiched in a three-layer 0.3mum-thick superconducting layer 4A, the critical magnetic field HCL of the superconducting wire 3A may be approximately three times the value in a conventional design. This means an enlarged critical current density iC for the superconducting layer 4A. In such a design, the maximum current IC under superconducting conditions may be 2-3 times larger, cross section for cross section. The superconducting wire 3A may be smaller in width, realizing a microstructure design.
