Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to recover precious metal elements from a solution containing precious metal components in a simple and effective manner and also minimize odor by preparing an adsorbent for precious metal elements using a carrier whose surface is covered with polythioether. CONSTITUTION:Formaldehyde is diluted with water, and soda sulfide is added little by little for dissolution while it is stirred. A carrier is added into this dissolved liquid and after sufficient wetting through of the carrier with the liquid, the temperature of the liquid is increased to 60-70 deg.C and maintained at this level for about 30min-5hr. Next, the liquid is cooled, and the carrier coated with polythioether (CH2S)n is filtered and washed for obtaining precious metal adsorbent. The carrier is activated carbon, silicic acid, activated alumina, etc. The optimum coating dosage of polythioether which is used for coating the surface of the carrier is 3-80pts.wt. The obtained adsorbent selectively adsorbs precious metal elements such as gold, silver and platinum from a acidic solution containing such elements.
