Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently eliminate a ghost by determining a value corresponding to each tap of a gain memory by using an equalizing unit on a time division basis, and determining the length of a variable delaying circuit in a descending order in value of the gain memory. CONSTITUTION:An input video signal is supplied through a terminal 10 to a waveform memory 20, a tap gain arithmetic unit 21, an adder 11, and a terminal 12a of a switch 12. To subtraction element input terminal of the adder 11, ghost eliminating signals from plural equalizing units Y1-YN are supplied, and in a terminal 12b side of the switch 12, a video signal whose ghost has been eliminated is obtained. Each equalizing unit Y1-YN is allocated so as to obtain canceling signals corresponding to plural ghosts, respectively, and during a period in which this allocation processing is being executed, the switch 12 is connected to the terminal 12a side, and connected to the terminal 12b side, when the allocation processing is completed.

To explain with reference to FIG. 6, variable delay circuits DLI to DL3 are connected to transversal filters TFI to TF3 (for example, three as shown in the figure) having M taps, respectively, and these units Y1 to TF3 are connected to each other. A system has been proposed in which units Y3 are provided in parallel and each unit Y1 to Y3 corresponds to one ghost. The ghost-cancelled signal from unit Y1 is input to adder 1 via adder 3.2, and the ghost-cancelled signal from unit Y2 is input to adder 3.2.
The ghost removal signal from unit Y1 is input to adder 1 via adder 2. The adder 1 adds the ghost-removed signal and the input signal, and a signal from which the ghost has been removed can be obtained as an output.

According to the above ghost removal device, in the input video signal,! ! The position of the ghost is determined by cyclically integrating the quasi-signal (for example, the differential waveform of the vertical synchronization signal), and the amount of delay of each variable delay circuit is determined so that the MT transversal filter (with a long coverage time range) is assigned to each ghost. It's in control. In other words, as shown in FIG. 8, the delay time LIT of each variable delay circuit DLl-DL3 is adjusted so that each transversal filter TFI-TF3 is assigned to ghost gl-J3.
-L3T is set. By doing this, there is no need to create a huge transversal filter that covers the entire time MOT where ghosts may exist.

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) A problem with the above system is that the waveform of the ghost and the pattern of the tap gain 11) do not necessarily match. In particular, if there is a nearby ghost, the main signal may not be considered as an impulse, and the waveform of the human signal and the tap gain distribution waveform are quite different, and as shown in Figure 8, the main signal may not be considered as an impulse.
Even if the range is divided, it is not necessarily optimal.

In addition, when the S/N of the input video signal is low, it is difficult to separate minute ghost components from noise.

[Structure of the Invention] (Means for Solving the Problems) The present invention includes N equalization units each including a variable delay circuit and a transversal filter, and a tap (adjustable gain) of the variable delay circuit that is controlled by 1.1L. A ghost removal device having means for removing ghosts, comprising an input waveform memory, an output waveform memory, and a tap gain memory that covers the entire range where ghosts to be removed exist, and uses the equalization unit in a time-sharing manner. Accordingly, the tape gain memory has means for determining a value corresponding to each tap of the tap gain memory, and the means for determining the length of the variable delay circuit is arranged in descending order of the values of the tap gain memory. It is.

Once the tap gains C1-cMO are stored in memory, the gains required to remove ghosts can be determined from their values. Next, the procedure for setting the parameters listed in "2" will be explained. First, the switch 24 is turned on and the video signal digitized by the analog-to-digital converter 23 is introduced into the system. Here, as a reference signal, a differentiated falling part of a vertical synchronizing signal as shown in FIG. 3 is used, and the ghost removal section is defined as t-M OT. Since the position and amplitude of a ghost vary depending on the channel and reception point, the tap gain memory 22 is set to hold MO taps+11 gains in order to cover the entire range.

The tap gain setting procedure described above is as shown in the flowchart shown in FIG. That is, steps 81 to S2 are the process of loading the reference signal into the input waveform memory 20. Next, the delay port and tap gain are set sequentially from the first variable delay circuit and transversal filter (
Steps 83-S8). When this setting is completed, the data in the input waveform memory 20 is read out, and ghost removal signal creation processing is performed (step S9). Also, at this time, the data of the output yi is written into the output waveform memory 32. Next, a correlation calculation is performed between the data in the input waveform memory 20 and the data in the output waveform memory 32, and the tap gain is corrected. In this way, the first tap gains are determined for N equalization units and stored in the tap gain memory 22. Next, a second tap gain correction process is performed (steps S1B, S14, S4).

This criterion is set to a value that effectively removes ghosts, and is initialized when switching channels, for example. In the same channel reception state, when the tap gain correction process is performed a specified number of times, the process moves to step S16 and the correction is stopped; however, if the specified number of times is not reached, the process moves to step S17, and when the next reference signal arrives, the above-mentioned process is performed. Similar processing is repeated.

As described above, after the parameters of the transversal filter and the r+J variable delay circuit are determined, first a tap gain of 8.0 m is obtained within the range where ghosts may exist. Next, the cancellation targets are selected in descending order of the ghost. This is achieved by selecting the one with the largest absolute value of the tap gain. In this way, once the parameters for each equalization unit are determined, the controller 30 gives a delay amount to each variable delay circuit DLI to DLN, and also applies the tap gain read from the tap gain memory 22 in parallel to a predetermined transversal filter. Serial conversion circuit 4
1. In FIG. 1, a tap gain determination circuit 42 is provided. This is to notify the controller 30 that gain data is present on the bus when gain data is read from the tap gain memory 22. .
