Abstract

PURPOSE: To evade the loss of the function of the entire system at the occurrence of a fault by allowing either a faulty node or a supervisory node to detect the fault, switching an optical transmission line into an electric signal transmission line between the faulty node and other nodes so as to apply communication between nodes via the supervisory node.
CONSTITUTION: If the transmission or reception of a data is disabled, either a faulty node or a supervisory node detects the fault. Each node is provided with a fault diagnostic circuit 65 detecting a fault of a communication control section 31 and an optical transmission/reception section 32 of at least its own station and a fault of either the communication section 31 or the optical transmission/reception section 32 of its own station may be detected. In detecting the fault in this way, the communication path between the faulty node and the other nodes is switched from the optical transmission line 24 into the electric signal transmission lines 25a∼25c to exchange the data required among the nodes via the supervisory node.
