The FM wave generation part 4 and the output stage of the transmitting/receiving mechanism 8 are provided with a data processing part 14. The transmitting/receiving mechanism 8 is equipped with a reception state judgement part 18 which judges whether or not reception is performed within the measurement range. A detection control part 20 controls the FM wave generation part 4 and transmitting/ receiving mechanism 8 according to the judgement information of the reception stage judgement part 18 to carry out next distance operation successively.
