Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture an Al-alloy hard sheet reduced in ear rate and excellent in strength and ductility, by applying hot rolling and recrystallization treatment to an Al-alloy ingot containing specific amounts of Mg and by subjecting the resulting hot-rolled plate to cold rolling twice at specific drafts, respectively, and to annealing between the above two cold-rolling stages.
CONSTITUTION: The Al-alloy input consisting of 2.0W6.0% Mg and the balance essentially Al and further containing, if necessary, one or more kinds among 0.1W0.7% Mn, 0.01W0.5% Cu, 0.01W0.35% Cr, 0.01W0.05% Zr, 0.005W0.12% V, and ≤0.05% Ti is hot-rolled at about 500°C, preferably after subjected to homogenizing treatment, and the resulting hot-rolled plate is subjected to recrystallization annealing at about 300W350°C. Subsequently, the hot-rolled plate is subjected to preliminary cold rolling at ≤30% draft and then to annealing at a temp. in the vicinity of about 200W210°C lower than the above recrystallization temp. After that, the preliminarily cold-rolled sheet after annealing is subjected to finish cold rolling at a draft of ≥75%, preferably at 75W85%, followed by stabilizing treatment desirably at ≤about 250°C. In this way, the Al-alloy hard sheet reduced in ear rate at the time of drawing and having sufficient strength and ductility can be obtained.
