Therefore, the applicant of the present application proposed a stepladder connecting device in Utility Model Application No. 57-28038, which has a simple structure, is easy to operate, and can reliably maintain the connection. That is, one end is rotatably pivoted to the front leg, and the other end is provided with an engagement recess that is a U-shaped notch that has an opening on the lower side in the rotational direction and penetrates in the rotational axis direction. When the engaging concave portion engages with the engaging protrusion provided on the rear leg using the connecting member, separation from each other is prevented by using a lock plate having a locking hole. However, the distance between the engagement recess, which is a U-shaped notch in the connecting member, and the opposite end of the pivot joint is often difficult to maintain, and because the distance between them is short, the strength is insufficient, and the space between them deforms when using the stepladder. A problem arose.

When using the stepladder 1 as a stepladder, the front and rear legs 2 and 3 are opened at a predetermined angle as shown by the solid line in Figure 1, and the legs 2 and 3 are connected by a connecting member 7 to prevent them from opening. . During this connection work, as shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the engagement recess 13
The connecting member 7 is rotated around the support shaft 12 so that the opening 14 and the first engaging protrusion 15 face each other. As a result of this rotation, the lower end of the lock plate 17 first collides with the tip of the engaging protrusion 15. During this collision, the bulging portion 23 of the bent portion 22 of the lock plate 17 and the tip of the engaging protrusion 15 come into contact. Since both are in taper contact, the lock plate 17 is connected to the spring 21.
The engaging protrusion 15 is guided into the locking hole 18 by being pushed outward in the axial direction of the support shaft 19 against the force. When the engagement protrusion 15 comes out into the locking hole 18, the lock plate 17 is pressed by the spring 21 and returns to its original state, and the engagement protrusion 15 and the engagement recess 13 are fitted together. The engagement protrusion 15 is then held in the engagement hole 18 of the lock plate 17 and cannot be removed from the opening 14 of the engagement recess 13 any longer. At this time, the bulging portion 23 serves to guide the engagement protrusion 15 to the locking hole 18 and also serves as a strength rib.

Thus, the front and rear legs 2, 3 are reliably and firmly connected with one touch by the connecting member 7, and are prevented from opening, and there is no possibility that the connecting member 7 will come off accidentally. Further, the force exerted on the connecting member 7 by the engaging protrusion 15 after the connection is received by a member between the engaging recess 13 and the opposite end of the connecting member 7, but this portion is absorbed by the portal frame 24. Since it is connected to the member on the pivoting side of the engagement recess 13 through, it can sufficiently withstand the applied force and will not be deformed.

To release the engagement between the engagement recess 13 and the engagement protrusion 15, simply lift the bent portion 22 of the lock plate 17 upward by hand, as shown by the phantom lines in Figure 6. This rotation releases the engagement protrusion 15 from the engagement hole 18, making it free to remove from the opening 14.

It should be noted that the present invention is not limited to the above embodiments, and the connecting member is not bendable.
It can also be a connecting rod for books. 7 and 8 show other embodiments of the lock plate and portal frame, and in the figures, the lower part of the lock plate 17' is bent outward to form a bent portion 22'. This is similar to the lock plate 17 described above, but the lock plate 17' has a locking hole 1.
A tongue piece 26 is protruded on the same inclined plane as the bent portion 22' on a line connecting the center of the support shaft 19 and the locking hole 18' on the inner side of the locking hole 8'. The tongue piece 26 is configured such that when the engagement recess 13 is engaged with the engagement protrusion 15 and the lock plate 17' is engaged with the engagement protrusion 15, a force in the opposite direction is applied to the connecting plate 9. When activated, it acts to sink into the engaging protrusion 15, and lock plate 1
This is preferable because it can prevent the engaging protrusion 15 of 7' from shifting outward in the axial direction. In addition, in the figure, 24a indicates a gate-shaped frame formed by bending a round bar material, and the leg portion 25
a is caulked to the connecting plate 9. Also the 9th
The figure and FIG. 10 are other embodiments of the portal frame,
24b is a portal frame made by bending and forming a band-shaped material,
Locking holes 27, 27 are provided in each leg portion 25b, 25b. The portal frame 24b is fixed to the connecting plate by inserting the locking pieces 28, 28 raised by the connecting plate 9 into the locking holes 27, 27 and bending them from the engaging recess 13 toward each end side. .
Furthermore, FIGS. 11 and 12 show other embodiments of the portal frame, and the portal frame 24c in this case is formed by bending a portion of the lower side of the connecting member in the rotation direction into a bulging shape. It is.

As described above, according to the present invention, since the lock plate having the locking hole prevents the engagement recess and the engagement protrusion provided at the opposite end of the connection member from separating, the connection member It is extremely safe as it reliably prevents its separation from external forces acting on it in any direction. In particular, even if the connecting member is in a substantially vertical position like a ladder, it is ensured that it will not come off. In addition, since the lock plate and the engagement protrusion are in tapered contact, simply by rotating the connecting member and causing it to collide with the engagement protrusion, the locking is performed with one touch, improving operability. It will be planned. Further, a reinforcing portal frame having an avoidance space for ensuring rocking when the lock plate is engaged and disengaged is provided on the attached surface of the lock plate and on both sides that are partially divided by the engagement recess. Even if there is not enough distance between the engagement recess and the opposite end of the coupling member, the force applied by the engagement protrusion to the opposite end of the engagement recess can be absorbed. This can also be done on the pivot side of the mating recess, and no deformation occurs during this time. In addition, the structure is extremely simple,
It has many practical effects, such as fewer failures, ease of manufacture, and cost reduction.
