Abstract
PURPOSE: In obtaining the titled compound from a synthesis gas by using a liquid-phase homogeneous catalyst of ruthenium type, to reduce loss in solvent and in catalytic component and make it possible to effect stable operation for a long time, by keeping the upper part of a reactor at a specific temperature.
CONSTITUTION: A ruthenium compound is used as a catalyst and a halogen compound as a promoter. A liquid medium containing a catalyst obtained by combining the ruthenium compound with the halogen compound is held in a reactor, a synthesis gas is continuously fed from the bottom of the reactor and the aimed compound of the reaction product is accompanied by an unreacted synthesis gas and continuously taken out from the upper part of the reactor. In the operation, the reaction is carried out while maintaining the temperature of the upper part of the reactor 50W150°C lower than the reaction temperature (160W300°C, especially preferably 180W260°C). A method to cool the wall face at the upper part of the reactor from the outside, etc., may be cited as the method to keep the temperature at the upper part of the reactor in the above-mentioned range.
