Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for brightness adjustment of a display device due to the change in the mounting method of a telephone set by providing a brightness adjustment means adjusting automatically the brightness of the display device depending on the change in the holding method of a handset. CONSTITUTION:In turning a projection of a handset hanger 33 upward to mount a telephone set main body 32 onto a wall face, a cam 34 starts a microswitch 35 by the turning of the hanger 33 to close a switch contact 35a. Thus, a voltage division resistor 21b and a voltage decreasing resistor 23 are connected in parallel and the voltage division voltage to an LCD 1 is decreased. As a result each liquid crystal element chip in the LCD 1 is rotated depending on the voltage division (visual angle is changed) and each character in the LCD 1 by the wall mount of the telephone set main body 32 is adjusted to the brightness easy to see apparently.

In the figure, the present embodiment adjusts the apparent brightness of each of the liquid crystal pieces for forming characters inside a liquid crystal display (hereinafter referred to as LCD) 1 by changing the angle from the reference plane (change in diopter angle). It consists of a diopter angle switching circuit 2 and a handset holding method switching mechanism section 3 that sends a switching signal to the diopter switching circuit 2 indicating that the handset holding method has been switched to the wall mounting side.
