Abstract

PURPOSE: To calculate a distance and an inclination without a pair being subjected to an interference from another pair in the pairs of a light projection system and a light receiving system by sequentially operating the light projection system and the light receiving system forming a pair for a prescribed period.
CONSTITUTION: A sensor unit 1 is composed of three pairs of light projection system and light receiving systems. Each light projection system is composed of light sources 3, 4 and 5 and projection lenses 6, 7 and 8. Each light receiving system is composed of photodetecting elements 15, 16 and 17 and light receiving lenses 12, 13 and 14. The light projection system of the light source 3 (or 4 or 5) and the light receiving system of the photodetecting element 15 ( or 16 or 17) form a one-to-one correspondence with each other. Light is sequentially projected from each pair and a light projection distance calculator 20 calculates relative distances D1WD3 between the prescribed position of the light projection system and spot lights 9W11 on a surface 2 to be measured only on the basis of the detection signal of the light of the light receiving system of last-said pair. Accordingly, since the spot lights are imaged on the light receiving surfaces of the elements 15W17 in in-focus conditions, the effect of the reflection of the spot lights from a work surface is not affected.
