Abstract

PURPOSE: To raise efficiency in obtaining the titled substance by bringing t- butanol into contact with oxygen by the use of a static bed multi-tubular reactor, by dehydrating and decomposing t-butanol into isobutene water and feeding before t-butanol is introduced to a catalytic bed.
CONSTITUTION: In obtaining the titled substance by oxidizing t-butanol as a starting raw material with oxygen-containing gas in the presence of a catalyst by the use of a reactor of multi-tubular heat exchanger type, at least ≥50% t-butanol is previously decomposed into isobutene and water and fed. The de hydration and decomposition are preferably carrid out by using a dehydrating catalyst such as sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, boric, acid, silica-alumina or ion exchange resin and the decomposition position is properly selected from the interior of the oxidative reactor, a preheating layer before the raw material gas is brought into contact with the catalytic bed and a separately set decompos ing device. The decomposition is performed outside the reactor advantageously with respect to energy. Life the oxidizing catalyst is prolonged by the the above- mentioned method.
