PURPOSE:To sharpen the electric charge quantity distribution of a nonmagnetic toner and to prevent fogging and the contamination in a machine by using a developer consisting of a specific magnetic carrier, nonmagnetic toner and magnetic toner respectively having specific grain sizes. CONSTITUTION:This developer consists of the magnetic carrier 8 having 20-200mum grain size, the nonmagnetic toner 10 having 3-30mum grain size and the magnetic toner 9 having 5-50mum grain size. The developer is preferably formed by compounding 1-30pts.wt. toner 10 and 0.1-20pts.wt. toner 9 with 100pts.wt. carrier 8. This developer is agitated by an agitating means 5 of a developing device. While the toner 10 is imparted with the prescribed electric charge by the carrier 8, the toner 10 which is insufficiently charged is imparted with the sufficient charge of the same polarity by the toner 9 of the small grain size. The carrier 8 is held on a sleeve 4 by a magnet 3 and the toner 9 is also held on the sleeve 4 or the carrier 8 in a development region. The development is mostly executed by the toner 10.
