Abstract

PURPOSE: To monitor a ground fault accident on each electric pole at all times and to speed up accident point recovery by detecting the difference between currents which flow from a bracket to which the support insulator of the high voltage line of a power distribution system is fitted to an overhead earth wire and a common earth wire.
CONSTITUTION: If a dielectric breakdown occurs at a point F of the support insulator 6 of an (n+1)th electric pole 4 to cause a ground fault accident, an accident current IF flows from the high voltage line 2 through the bracket 6 and is further shunts as accident currents IF1 and IF2 to the overhead earth wire and common earth wire 3 respectively. When there is no accident at the part of the insulator 6, the same current flows from the common earth line 3 to the overhead earth wire 1 or in the opposite direction, and consequently the difference between currents flowing to the coils 7 and 8 is zero. When a ground fault accident occurs at a point F, on the other hand, the difference does not becomes zero and the difference current between IF1 and IF2 is monitored to detect the ground fault accident on an electric pole.
