Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture a steel plate having required tensile strength without inhibiting weldability, by controlling N content in a slab as a stock for steel plate at the time of manufacturing a low-carbon steel plate by means of hot rolling under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A slab containing, by weight, 0.01W0.10% C, <0.50% Si, 0.3W2.0% Mn, 0.01W0.10% Al, 0.005W0.020% Ti, 0.01W0.10% Nb, and 0.001W0.010% N or further containing 0.0005W0.0035% B, 0.1W0.5% Cu, and 0.1W4.0% Ni is heated to 1,000W1,250°C, after hot rolling is fihished at ≥30% draft at a temp. in the range of 750W850°C, subjected to accelerated cooling at 5W20°C/sec cooling rate down to a temp. in the range of 600W400°C so as to be formed into a steel plate. At this time, in order to adjust the tensile strength of the steel plate to a required value Tkgf/mm2, respective contents of the elements other than N are regulated to the above-mentioned values and N content is controlled so that the value of N satisfies the relations represented by equation I. In this way, the steel plate having required tensile strength can be manufactured.
