Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the need of a thick telephone directory and to offer telephone number guidance service without the intervention of an operator by installing a data base regarding to the telephone numbers of subscribers in a telephone office and allowing this data base to be accessed from a telephone set. CONSTITUTION:Where there is a call for the telephone guidance service, the telephone office 1 connects the data base 2 regarding to the telephone numbers to the call and enables the call, i.e. telephone set 4 to use the data base 2. Then when a subscriber number is searched by the name of a subscriber, or when a subscriber number is seared by the name of a business, the subscriber's name or the type of business to be searched is inputted with alphabetic input keys 17 and numeric keys 18 after a key 11 for subscriber's name designation or a key 12 for business type designation. Further, the address of the subscriber to be searched is inputted with the keys 17 and keys 18 after a key 13 for designating the address of the subscriber to be searched. Then when a key 14 for retrieval instruction is depressed, the data base 2 for subscriber information is retrieved by the information processor in the telephone office 1 according to the input information.
