Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a detecting circuit capable of starting A/D conversion early after peak hold by outputting conversion start command from a timing controller to an A/D converter in response to the output of a peak presence detecting circuit.
CONSTITUTION: Receiving signals to be measured at an input, a peak hold circuit 2 holds a peak value and feeds an output to an A/D converter 3, wherein the output is converted to digital signals. A peak presence detecting circuit 6 is composed of a peak hold detecting circuit 7 and a timer 8. The circuit 6 compares the signals to be measured and the output of the circuit 2 with each other, detects a peak point and feeds an output with the delay of a prescribed time. A timing controller 5, responsive to the output of the circuit 6 delayed by the timer 8, starts the converting operation of the A/D converter 3. Thus, since A/D conversion is started without so long time passing after starting peak hold, no useless hold period is spent. Even when relatively adjacent two pulse signals are inputted, these two pulse signals can be discriminated from each other and the peak values can be detected.
